Bond doesn't tell M anything until she walks right up to him in the control room asking "where do we stand?" Bond not keeping contact with MI6 and Elektra calling for M is one of the reasons why she showed up. Coincidentally, Bond broke into Elektra's villa seconds RIGHT AFTER she called for M, so between Bond escaping the nuclear bunker and breaking into the villa he had all the time to warn MI6 of his suspicions.

Another thing is that Bond should have suspected Elektra after the ice chase with the parahawks. He should have taken notice that all of the goons were attacking him, none of them splitting up to catch up with Elektra. Plus when Bond told her to go into hiding she didn't and there was even a point where she stops to watch all the action but when Bond approaches her he doesn't ask her "why are you standing in the open?"

It's not solid evidence that Elektra was behind it all but it does make her very suspicious and Bond should have taken note of it. And when suspecting Elektra might have been in league with Renard (before she revealed she was the mastermind) he should have alerted MI6 immediately of the potential danger.

In the end it's not Bond who looks like a fool in TWINE but pretty much every character too. For example Cigar Girl has her boat parked next to MI6 and she's loaded with sniper rifle, machine guns, and grenade launchers. How did MI6 security let this pass?! And how did she know that Bond would be creeping out of a hole made by an explosion and was ready to aim for him? If she were there to confirm the explosion of the money she could have taken off and informed Elektra of her father's assassination. Instead she just shoots at Bond just so a boat chase can ensue and in the end nothing is accomplished during the whole chase which I thought was nothing more than a retread of the better executed boat chases in LALD and MR.

Humm.. Although it does sort of follow how dull Bond could seem in the books. He didn't always keep in contact like the Dr no quote in my signature. I think Kris started a thread about it in the book section. I am going to watch it again soon and see what Imake of it.

I find The world Is Not Enough very entertaining. I have not analysed it very closely.

I love all the Bond films, but do admit some are weaker than others, even the Ones I think are weaker I still watch as every film has its moments.
Connery's weakest I'd say would be NSNA, next to QOS i really think it looks like a TV movie, and Like QOS,it's the only other Bond I got Bored watching.
Moore's weakest, TMWTGG Looked cheap
Brosnan's weakest, DAD, just the last hour lets it down
Craigs, worst QOS, HATE Everthing about it. It's as if they set out to make a Bond movie just to P**s me Off. Bad PTS, Crap Titles, Just one Bad action movie let alone a bad Bond film. I can't (even after watching it a few times) fine anything of Bond in it.
