All joking aside, to be honest I don't really read too much into what actors say about other actors. Craig has had many fellow actors come out and praise him (many Bonds too), but I don't actually read too much into it, the same way I don't read too much into the negative stuff either.

I posted the article about Travolta, but to be honest his comments and Fox's comments amount to the same in my book - zilch!

It's always interesting to read what other folk have to say, but at the end of the day these kinds of comments (from both sides) won't change or influence anyone's opinion's on actors that they like/dislike.

The Travolta and Fox threads prove my point....

It's obviously easier to sing the praises of someone in the establishment than to criticise. So EF's comments are rather interesting.

You can add Jonathan Ross to that list. Bring back Barry Norman!

I think we should contact Mr Fox for an interview. He might expect a fee so we should all chip in.

And why not? Sorry, couldn't resist.

Seriously, though, Norman was always sniffy about Bond films, so he'd probably either be in the "Craig has revitalised the franchise" camp or with Cosmo Landesman in the "all Bond films suck and this is no exception" club.

I don't recall Norman ever giving a Bond film a bad review. He always struck me as someone who felt it was his patriotic duty to support Bond films because they shot at Pinewood for five days and somehow qualified as a vital cog in the British film industry. I do remember him dissing Craig a tad but I'm sure he would have given the film a thumbs-up when the crunch time came. A few critics had a dig at Craig and then couldn't bring themselves to criticise a Bond film when it came out. Ross of course is a complete joke. He'll probably get The Sky at Night when Patrick Moore dies and turn it into a celebrity based astronomy show with lashings of innuendo...or something.

I do like JR, but I've never watched (Film xxxx) his movie review show since BN left.

Not bad, exactly, just indifferent. I remember him reviewing one of the Brosnan films (can't remember which one, sorry) by saying "if you like that sort of thing, then that's the sort of thing you'll like".

Didn't Barry Norman (like everyone else it seems) query the casting of Craig as Bond?

I remember hearing Norman on the radio in late 2005. He suggested that Craig's acting style might be a bit too serious for James Bond and wondered if he would lack humour.

Barry Norman, like many people, did have some misgivings about craig's casting.

I have nothing to add to this thread at this precise moment but I just wanted to see Edward Fox back at the top of the page

Just out of interest, do you have any links to Barry Norman's comments regarding Craig?

Doing a Google search, I can;t find any articles; but he did say that Craig was wrong for Bond as he is not the "leading man type".

I hope Edward Fox and Patsy Palmer can find the time to attend the annual CNB convention later in the year.

It'll quite cause a good dent and society will be persuaded by these has-beens that Craig is wrong for Bond.

Show them the light Palmer and Fox!!!

Good old Fox! Let's not forget Lois Maxwell (and who else) are down on DC as Bond. I don't think they are downgrading DC as an actor, but that he's not a Bond-type.
