Urgh. Just goes to confirm that if Statham were to play Bond, we'd soon be saying "actually, maybe Daniel Craig wasn't that bad after all".
He is too crude to play Bond, but that seemed to be the primary qualification.
He could get the role and there be people defending him as bond, Fleming's bond at that
I like him as an actor and enjoyed one or tow of his movies but just being english isn't enough of a qualification to my mind
Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.
Favorite Bond Movie: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible, Kingsman: The Secret Service and The November Man or any upcoming actioners starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good since it will help him expand his reputation as an actor especially in the action realm)
Favorite Movies: Star Wars Indiana Jones Star Trek The Dark Knight Trilogy Harry Potter Middle-Earth The Matrix Mission: Impossible The Mummy Jurassic Park Godzilla

Hot off the presses! The bloke is still at it. In his defence it has to be said after 2005 he actually has more charisma in his movies than the officially sanctioned series and after Daniel's rudimentary performance of more animal than Bond, Jason would be a step up. If not the completion of Barbara's and Daniel's dream. The death of James Bond!
Although Jason from his preported comments does not seem to be on top of the Bond situation. Maybe he like Sir Anthony Hopkins thinks Pierce is 'still making them'
Jason Statham Eyes James Bond Role

British actor Jason Statham is hoping to become the next James Bond, branding the superspy part his "dream" role.
The Expendables star has risen to fame playing tough guy characters in movies including Snatch, The Italian Job and Crank.
But Statham, who is dating beauty Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, is keen to take over from Daniel Craig as the next 007.
He tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "You'd be lying if you said no. He has all the fanciest gadgetry. He's in and out of bed with the sexiest, hottest women. And gets to save the world. Come on! It's everybody's dream, isn't it?"
"Those were the days when we still associated Bond with suave, old school actors such as Sean Connery and Roger Moore,"
"Daniel didn't have a hint of suave about him," - Patsy Palmer
But if there's one British role he admits he has a hankering after, it's that of legendary MI6 spy James Bond.
"You'd be lying if you said no," Jason admits. "He has all the fanciest gadgetry. He's in and out of bed with the sexiest, hottest women. And he gets to save the world. Come on! It's everybody's dream, isn't it?"
Statham may be a little rough round the edges to play 007, but he doesn't do too badly with the women himself.
He's currently smitten with Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 24, who he's been seeing for over a year. He's previously dated Australian singer/ actress Sophie Monk and, most famously, men's magazine favourite Kelly Brook, until she left him for Titanic star Billy Zane in 2004.
