I don't care for the casting of Moneypenny and Q either. It makes no sense to completely change characters that pretty much everyone had no problems with in the first place. Many people love the characters of Q and Moneypenny so much, that they were constantly expressing their disappointment of how they were both absent in Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace. So after ten years, the producers finally bring back Q and Moneypenny as bizarrely reinvented versions of them. They don't even come close to resembling the classic film versions of the characters, so how are all these origin stories even going to make any sense? I sometimes think the producers do these sorts of things to be spiteful to the older fans.Blowfeld wrote:She won't last she will have to go as soon as the next Bond comes along, I don't care for her casting more over I don't care for the origins story they are trying to give her.The Saint 007 wrote:Naomie Harris on winning the role of Moneypenny in Skyfall: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/fe ... yfall.html

Good God, here we go again. 12 reasons why Skyfall is awesome: http://whatculture.com/film/skyfall-rev ... wesome.php
Character exploration is one of the reasons on the list as to why Skyfall is so "awesome." Right, because bringing back twisted reinvented versions of Q and Moneypenny, and concocting some uninteresting and unnecessary origin stories to explain after all these years why they do the jobs they do, is so awesome. It doesn't even properly fit together with the older films. Oh, but I forgot, the classic Bond films don't exist anymore. *Sigh* I don't care about the origin stories of Bond, M, Q, Moneypenny etc. I consider myself to be a James Bond fanatic, but my Bond nerdishness doesn't go that far to really care about the psychology of his character. I think that keeping all these details a mystery makes the character more interesting. And in all honesty, how many average viewers actually care about all these origin stories? Other than the really hardcore Bond fanatics, most viewers probably don't take much interest in that sort of thing.

Since it was another one of Skyfall's worst kept secrets, I guess some journalists saw no harm in revealing Eve becoming Moneypenny.Kristatos wrote:Was the "Eve is Moneypenny" thing one of the spoilers that journalists weren't supposed to reveal?

But...but...but....Naomie Harris categorically denied it back in January and major fan sites assured us it was baseless:

More seriously, at least two of the reviews I saw coyly hinted at this. One of them was in the Daily Mail written by a guy whose first name is Baz. He was the first to report last year that Harris' character would be revealed as Moneypenny, generating much derision on 007 message boards for being irresponsible for printing such nonsense. (Even though his Skyfall scoops have pretty much all turned out to be true). In the review, he basically said he was right about something he had reported but wouldn't repeat it to avoid giving out spoilers.Napoleon Solo wrote:The Saint 007 wrote:Since it was another one of Skyfall's worst kept secrets, I guess some journalists saw no harm in revealing Eve becoming Moneypenny.Kristatos wrote:Was the "Eve is Moneypenny" thing one of the spoilers that journalists weren't supposed to reveal?

Maybe, but he has a looooong history of printing Bond "scoops" that turned out to be nonsense, so people were right to be sceptical.Napoleon Solo wrote: More seriously, at least two of the reviews I saw coyly hinted at this. I'm not familiar with his earlier work. I was initially skeptical in general. But when 3 or 4 of his items panned out I began to wonder whether his Moneypenny item was true. They never backed down from it, despite the public denials. Maybe it was the blind pig finding the acorn but, this time around, he somehow got plugged in. Maybe he'll revert to his previous form for Bond 24.Kristatos wrote:Maybe, but he has a looooong history of printing Bond "scoops" that turned out to be nonsense, so people were right to be sceptical.Napoleon Solo wrote: More seriously, at least two of the reviews I saw coyly hinted at this. Funny you should mention that because I left a comment on that QoS article a few days ago and it seems to have finally appeared now if you scroll down. His final page (all about how Daniel Craig is such a magnetic actor you can't take your eyes off him for a second and yearn for him to always be the screen) is the funniest.Napoleon Solo wrote:This is the same Web site that proclaimed Quantum of Solace was a great film:The Saint 007 wrote:Good God, here we go again. 12 reasons why Skyfall is awesome: http://whatculture.com/film/skyfall-rev ... wesome.php

The ONLY thing Danielle Cr-egg can attract with his so-called "magnetic" personality is a trash receptacle left on the curb to be picked up by the collectors.

Normally tabloids are full of it. This time they would publish something, it would be repeated by the cut'n'past media, I would try due diligence finding nothing to back up the rumours. Then it would happen. Baz said Harris is the first sexual conquest of the movie for Bond so far he has not bee correct in this regard.Napoleon Solo wrote:I'm not familiar with his earlier work. There were others rumours too full of BS that didn't pan out, however too many were right for it to be coincidence in my opinion.

What a load of shite, if craig's magnetic then pigs can fly, he's the most wooden, morose, unhappy, plain as day boring actor out there, I could do his lines closed for better effect, what next sir daniel craig a true treasure of the UK, give me a bloody breakJames wrote:Napoleon Solo wrote:

I can think of plenty of actors that have a magnetic personality that really draw others in ie Robert Downey Junior, Liam Neeson, Ewan Mcgregor (to name a few), what next daniel craig saves dog from a burning fire in a house truly a hero to us all

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Has anyone ever totted up Bond's body count in the novels and short stories? I'm particularly interested in the ones by Ian Fleming, to see how they stack up against the notion promoted by the Craigskis that Fleming's Bond was a cold-blooded killer.

I probably won't be welcome here after this
but I enjoyed the clip with Bond and the Quartermaster. Still think Craig needs to go,and I think Whislaw is too young to play a Q. But I enjoyed it.The rest of the film's probably rubbish, though!

There does not seem to be an article on it. Maybe we could ask some of the people on other Bond websites? Or we could read a book each and make a body count.Kristatos wrote:Has anyone ever totted up Bond's body count in the novels and short stories? I thought Whishaw was fine, but Bond's line "...a bloody big ship" symbolises all that's wrong with the Craig approach.katied wrote:I probably won't be welcome here after thisbut I enjoyed the clip with Bond and the Quartermaster. Craig also noted, “I’m contracted for another two Bond films and that seems a fair number, but I’m not going to make predictions, because people need to go and see the movie and until they do we can’t make another one. But I’m not going to outstay my welcome.
