The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The song was OK, but a bit unimaginative, being strongly based around the 4-note "vamp" to the James Bond theme (I wonder if that was the "brief" she said she had to work to). I suppose that's good, in that EON seem to be responding to criticism that QOS had departed too far from the traditional Bond formula. It sounds like they are trying to reassure people that this is unequivocally a Bond film.

I too just listened to that snippet of title song for Skyfall...............well its ok, nothing special, but after that god awful screech of a song for QOS, i was worried we might get another dreadful inappropriate title song.
Just got to wait till end of month to see if film lives upto expectations!

I like how the Bond theme(the gunbarrel music) is in there a little bit.

Considering who's singing the song is the only reason to notice it. It's not a bad song it's not up to the last year of hype either, it lacks the certain something Adele usually brings. The Sweeney wrote:I agree, I think it's a grower. I can see this song topping the charts, especially considering who is singing the song.katied wrote:Sorry guys. It's not bad. I didn't think it will be a pop hit if only because it is too slow. I think with visualisation in the movie it will probably be very good. I don't think this one will jump out and grab people the why the songs of the golden age did. This is what they were promising.
Of course my expectations were high because it was Adele.

I agree it's not Cornell Madonna or Jack White crooning festival. It has more class than anything in the Daniel Craig era thus far.English Agent wrote:I too just listened to that snippet of title song for Skyfall...............well its ok, nothing special, but after that god awful screech of a song for QOS, i was worried we might get another dreadful inappropriate title song.

I know it's not a perfect film, but I still like A View To A Kill, and its theme song is my all-time favourite.katied wrote:Sorry guys. It's not bad. I think it's going to be a case of "The theme is better than the movie(see also: A View To A Kill)
Anyway, we'll be able to hear the full Skyfall theme later this week. I think it's supposed to be unveiled by Friday. It is a little better than the last few Bond songs, but from what I've heard so far, it still isn't anything special.

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mb8hi ... o1_500.jpg Enough idol chatter. If anyone other than Adele sang this somnambulistic monotone of lyrics it would not sell 100,000 copies. I heard better vocals on American Idol with Pia Toscano last year. FBF, NO need to worry about the Oscars.......NONE.......this overhyped song will not see the light of day of any award. Cornell's song had more life to it. It fits in with Mendes' morose and depressing plot which explores a villain with yellow hair who thinks he is David Bowie unchained and Bond's Oedipus complex with M tracing back to his childhood roots. What a complete mess of a film. As Brody said to the mayor in Jaws, "August? The summer's over Larry
These people think you want the beaches open". Give me Tom Jones singing TB any day
Where the heck is our Ms. Bouvier to decipher this madness? Forster regrets doing Bond........Mendes will regret it......and so will Adele. Eon has destroyed the franchise........officially.........FBF, send it the clowns
Twilight will utterly and completely suck out all of the box office air from Bond 23 once it opens.

And what are those expectations EA exactly? You will contemplate walking out at the 60 minute mark due to the sheer boredom you will be exposed to.English Agent wrote:I too just listened to that snippet of title song for Skyfall...............well its ok, nothing special, but after that god awful screech of a song for QOS, i was worried we might get another dreadful inappropriate title song.

It's not bad 5 minuets is kind of long. Forgetting everything else judging by this clip it's okay more Bond like than they've done in along time, although I still like Garbage Twine I thought they had a Bond vibe.

Wow! Tom Jones can still sing pretty good. Why can't they get him to do another Bond theme?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Well, to each their own. Even as a kid, A View To A Kill has always been one of my favourite Bond films. I think Max Zorin and May Day are pretty cool villains. Patrick Macnee is in it, which is awesome since I love The Avengers series. It just upsets me that he was killed off so quickly. Love the song, as I've already mentioned, as well as some of the action scenes. Especially the Golden Gate bridge fight. I think it's one of the best climatic fights in the series. Yeah, Roger Moore was 57, but I still think he looks fairly good for his age. I certainly think Moore looks younger at that age than Craig does now.katied wrote:Eh, AVTAK isn't really my thing... Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Correct. But Eon wants to go young so they gave Adele a boring monotone ballad to sing and it sounds nowhere near Bassie-esque to me and I'll take TJ over her any dayThe Saint 007 wrote:Wow! Tom Jones can still sing pretty good. Why can't they get him to do another Bond theme?

I like them all except the first one, but my personal favorite is the second one.Omega wrote:Which one?bjamesobrad wrote:Omega wrote:They did the same lazy artwork for their Adele teaser. I totally agree, the artwork for the Skyfall posters has been very lazy. I know I always say this, but they really need to bring back the awesome illustrated James Bond movie posters again.
Craig has to frown in his for some reason. Brosnan teasers were cooler than the real posters.
I can't remember the last truly cool poster for a new movie.
I must admit I personally LOVED the Goldeneye poster
Looking at it it's better than TND, TWINE, DAD, CR, QOS, Spyfall. We almost never see the poster once it hits dvd, the Nintendo 64 game used a famous cover of the movie.
Rest in Peace
