The problem is Barbara Broccoli is in charge and she does not like handsome charming Bond actors or Bond films so God only knows what she would come up with if Craig left the role.

Speaking of q I think David Jason would make a great q ( in cavilles one), he's versatile enough to pull it off & his delboy character had some of his traits ( sometimes telling rodnry to pay attention or telling him to leave something pretty expensive alone & finally like q he liked messing around with things sometimes too).

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Three-Disc Combo Blu-ray / DVD + UltraViolet Digital Copy)
Blu-ray Release date March 20, 2012 : $19.99 The DVD is being released today. I guess it's worldwide run is over. With much less than a predicted $300 million box office gross worldwide at $231 million, and a $90 million budget before P&A costs, how much did this rancid trash lose? Is Q in the house to do the computations?

JOHN CARTER
According to Deadline, Disney expects "John Carter" to lose approximate $200 million dollars considering its theatrical performance.
"In light of the theatrical performance of John Carter ($184 million global box office), we expect the film to generate an operating loss of approximately $200 million during our second fiscal quarter ending March 31," the company said in a statement. "As a result, our current expectation is that the Studio segment will have an operating loss of between $80 and $120 million for the second quarter. As we look forward to the second half of the year, we are excited about the upcoming releases of The Avengers and Brave, which we believe have tremendous potential to drive value for the Studio and the rest of the company."

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
At least Carter does the service of outing the Hollywood numbers a little more.
When gleefully writing about the Disney massive misstep reporters actually do a little digging to find out it did not cost $250m rather $350m (someplace have $300m + P&R cost). These guys never estimate or check P&R but it is the determining factor on whether or not these big budget movies make any money. So now the story is John Carter of Mars need to make $600 to $700m to break even. Some places are saying $600m is the break even mark and its not. Gee what other $250+m films that were reported in the last few years as massive successes actually didn't break even, nobody will have the balls to write that story.
John Carter might be remember as a Disney marketing screwup, it is the grandaddy of the the scifi adventures which nobody knew what it supposed to be about. It maybe a decent movie that could have spawned a lucrative franchise, sadly it was marked before it was ever release.

Mazer, how much did the Tattoo film lose so far with their numbers crunched: $90 million to make it; $231 million final box office. Add on massive publicity campaign.

"Once again we appear to have James Bond as a rogue agent; the report says that at the beginning of the film 007 has resigned from MI6. That doesn’t fit in well though with the end of Quantum of Solace though, when Bond tells M “I never left”. But what does EON care about continuity?"

I actually saw it the first night. I had read a story on the Deadline Web site that moved at 11:30 a.m. NY time declaring it was a flop. So I was intrigued. I generally enjoyed it.
As these economics related to Bond, is the general feeling that Quantum was unprofitable? ($230m reported budget, worldwide box office gross around $575m)
