"Debuting in fourth place, 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' earned an estimated $13.0 million. That's well below expectations, which were at least $18 million on the low end. After all, the movie is based on a best-selling book, is tailored to the gifts of its A-list director (David Fincher) and has been riding a wave of hype and Oscar buzz for a year. Still, it's a long movie (nearly three hours), which limits the number of times per day it can screen, it has a lot of competition among current wide-release thrillers, and its pretty grim and horrific for moviegoers in a holiday mood. Still, its acclaim and uniqueness (nothing else in theaters is this dark) may give it some legs. Having opened in mid-week, it has earned a total so far of $21.4 million."

"'The Adventures of Tintin' was already an enormous international hit by the time it opened here on Wednesday. Which is good because the Steven Spielberg family-friendly action tale earned only an estimated $9.1 million at the domestic box office over the weekend (finishing at No. 5) and $17.1 million total in North America for the week."

"Weekend Box Office: 'Mission: Impossible' Takes Christmas Crown, as 'Dragon Tattoo,' 'Tintin,' 'Zoo' Stumble" : Is this a nice headline from media critics if you are Danielle Cr-egg? His name is on not one but two MAJOR bombs which goes along with his atrocious Cowboy caper as well. FBF, you know the old saying, "three strikes and you're out!". How many strikes before DC is out? Cruise soared and Danielle bored

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! Enjoy and may everyone be blessed with happiness!![]()
LOL I see that the box office didn't deliver sensational news for The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo and Tin Tin? While the second one was kind of expected, I did expect TGWTDT to do way better than this...
I'm extremely glad Mission Impossible beat all competitors.. I don't care what Tom Cruise's antics may be off camera, I think he's a really good actor and I have enjoyed a lot of his movies. And I've enjoyed all the MI movies so am particularly glad this one is doing so well.. and everyone I've spoken with who has seen it has said it is absolutely fantastic! So kudos JJ and Tom, definitely a winning team!
BJ, so now we have a director for Cavill as Bond, too... excellent!
"Are we on coms?"

MI 4's director Bird, age 54, http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BM ... 4,314_.jpg showed he has the grasp of all elements required to do a Bond film with Cavill. The side kick to Ethan Hunt could be a playful Q to Henry as well. He came off as a perfect foil to Ethan Hunt while providing the gadgetry. Get rid of you know who plus Dench, hire you know who as Bond, add on Bird as the director MANY times, and you will have a decade of PROPER Bond films.

BJ, what say you about Pierce? Do you think he's still a box office draw even though he's not Bond anymore?bjmdds wrote:She will never admit DC is not a draw;therefore, an Eon coup is due in 2013 and it will be time to clean house?

He could be but finding a leading role seems tough. I know The Topkapi Affair would have been good for him, not some of these roles he has taken, especially playing a centaur on an HBO mythology film. Cr-egg would be more suited for that. Don't underestimate what TTA would do for his career. He needs it.

TC sequel isn't going anywhere, and he's not interested doing that anymore because of the delays. Not many sequels that made over 10 years after the first movie don't do very well. Take Basic Instinct 2, for example. TC 2 would be too repetitive, and it makes no sense for it to be made after all these long years. Tron: Legacy and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps made sense because they're not repetitive. What about Tarantino films or something like Taken? And since we're talking about Brad Bird here, he did two great Bonds: The Incredibles and MI4. Bird and Pierce could make a very good team.bjmdds wrote:He could be but finding a leading role seems tough. It's great to see MI4 ( basicially an old formula Bond Film ) doing so well, I once posted that if Eon don't want to use
a winning formula someone else would.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
just watched "Celeb Family Fortunes" between two soap star teams, ( uk TV ). when a question on the five top male stars women would love
to kiss under the mistletoe. expected top couple of answers, G Clooney and B pitt, after gettin a question passed over the other team
after a disscusion decided on James Bond.
It was funny to watch them try and think of his name, "Oh what do you call him", " The Blonde one",
Needless to say after some time they came up with D Craig.
And to make it even Funnier HE WASN'T ON THE LIST .
Yea, from one hit movie to another and what a sex symbol as well.

Taken II with Bird and Brosnan would do aces FBF. Try to contact his agent and let him know the proper treatments he should do.FormerBondFan wrote:TC sequel isn't going anywhere, and he's not interested doing that anymore because of the delays. Correct Oscar. You are the man for sure. http://boxofficemojo.com/img/m/mi4/8652 ... 09236c.jpg Here is the PROPER Q to Cavill's Bond, not the one Eon chose with DC. Eon is totally clueless about proper casting and directing.

I meant something like Taken. Liam's doing Taken 2. Back to Bird here, he's done two great Bonds, and he knows how to do a spy flick. If Bird is to do a spy movie or any other kind of action flick with Pierce in the lead, I believe he would do it based on his own work. MI4 is just a head start for him to familiarize the live-action realm of movie.bjmdds wrote:Taken II with Bird and Brosnan would do aces FBF. Speaking of contacting Pierce's agent, that won't do. This would require a big legions of fans to make it happen though we cannot guarantee it will do.

Pierce involved in a film similar to Murder At 1600 with Bird directing would be fine.

I haven't seen Murder At 1600. From what I read in wikipedia, it has drama mixed with action.bjmdds wrote:Pierce involved in a film similar to Murder At 1600 with Bird directing would be fine.
Bird is now currently working on 1906, a disaster film in development. Since Pierce is prooving his craft in drama flicks, I say he should go for that. Thoughts on this, BJ? In fact, none of his works got any recognition.
