I enjoyed this - although it was shown in 16:9 ratio for some reason.
I read a thread about it on the Digitalspy forums and someone said "Moore cut his hair for Bond...how come people did not complain about him having blond hair as they did with Daniel Craig".

Yes, anyone might think that there were other, non-hair-related reasons for not liking Craig as Bond. But the Internet tells me this is not the case.carl stromberg wrote:I enjoyed this - although it was shown in 16:9 ratio for some reason.

The internet would know after all. My Wikipedia says I am charming half dragon demigod who writes Doctor Who fiction to please his many adoring fans at the Psychic Circus on Segonax.Kristatos wrote:Yes, anyone might think that there were other, non-hair-related reasons for not liking Craig as Bond. I couldn't care less about hair colour so long as the man chosen looked like 007. Aside from Daniel's numerous shortcomings bothers me is EONs desire to stick the thumb in the eyes of the once proud James Bond tradition all the while berating the once die hard fans such as myself.

Getting back on topic, I hate it when channels show older shows in 16:9. It's even worse than panning and scanning widescreen films. I watched a couple of episodes of Knowing Me, Knowing You (aha!) on Netflix, and they did the same thing. It gave it a weird, stretchy look.

I dutifully bought the Star Wars trilogy in widescreen George Lucas released on VHS long before the prequels were a glint in his eye. Rubbish without a rare widescreen CRT television.
There are a few shows available on streaming which don't have the correct aspect ratio look like the VHS Star Wars trilogy, difficult to watch. Bothers me more when a proper channel does it, especially for a classic movie, Lawrence of Arabia was unwatchable on a classics channel I would think they would at least try to get it right.

The Mr Bean tv series is shown in widescreen on ITV4. It does not look stretched, so maybe they convert it to widescreen in the same way as the Star Trek remastered series.

Mrs Kristatos owned a rather worn fullscreen copy of A New Hope when we lived in the States. The opening title crawl was barely readable. I'd rather have the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Though I remember a TV screening of the original Pink Panther film when I was a kid where the network thought it would be cute to use pink bars, which was rather distracting.

They did not complain because Moore is handsome, incredibly charming and elegant with a wonderful sense of humor. In short, everything Craig is not.carl stromberg wrote:I enjoyed this - although it was shown in 16:9 ratio for some reason.

Best car on TV. Ever.
Persuaders is a great show. Despite it's age, its impossible not to enjoy it.

John Barry did the theme for the Orson Welles Great Mysteries tv show which is similar to The Persuaders.
