Re: Breaking News Thread
I read that he had been ill for quite some time. That explains why he's not in Episode 8 as R2.

He was listed in The Force Awaken's credits as "R2D2 Consultant". I have to confess, it surprised me at the time, as I thought he had died some years ago.

I think they gave all the original actors a payday even if the could do the part any more )helped say even without Lucas this is Star Wars) . I'm just glad they didn't stuff him in the R2 can again. They used to leave him in there when they went for lunch.Kristatos wrote:He was listed in The Force Awaken's credits as "R2D2 Consultant". Baker hated Anthony Daniels (c3p0), I can believe the 3p0 actor is stuck up. He said nobody in the crew got along with Daniels.

RIP. He was my the actor that impacted my early life the most. Between Young Frankenstein, Willy Wonka, and Blazing Saddles he was a very important part of my childhood. May God rest his soul.Kristatos wrote:RIP Gene Wilder: http://variety.com/2016/film/news/gene- ... 201846745/
Mel Brooks and Sean Connery are my other idols. Both of them have had a hug impact on the world through their art.
Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

RIP Alan Simpson, co-creator (with Ray Galton) of the classic sitcoms Hancock's Half Hour and Steptoe & Son (US readers may know the latter as the template for the American remake Sanford & Son).
