The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
It's been described as the Star Wars version of old-skool war movies like The Guns of Navarone and Where Eagles Dare. As someone who grew up with those movies, I'm kind of excited about that.

The next James Bond film will not hit cinemas until late 2018, according to reports, so there's a chance Craig could be back for one more outing. The delay is due to producer Barbara Broccoli working on two other films first, and also because she allegedly wants time to convince Daniel Craig to sign back up. A source told The Sun: "Barbara is not going to be rushed into a Bond and wants to work on two other film projects next year. "It will give her time to work out a script and try to convince Daniel to maybe return." Broccoli is currently in London making Film Stars Don't Die with actor Jamie Bell, who was at one point one of the favourites to be the next 007.

Not so fast. It was always going to be 3 years for the next. Except for her working in between noting else is new.

I'm with Omega on this, Bond 25 wasn't coming out until 2018 regardless. I find the "Source's" quote to be so rich I'm surprised I didn't get gout. "Barbara is not going to be rushed into a Bond..." No she'll wait until production begins then rush it all together! It goes hand in glove with this, "It will give her time to work out a script..." Why start now! Just wait until the last minute then bang together some tripe involving "lost loves" and forgotten family members!

Deadline.com: ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Flying To $60.3M: But Why Is Opening Lower Than ‘Into Darkness’? The Justin Lin-directed film is 14% off the opening of its second installment, Star Trek Into Darkness which debuted to $70.9M. Already Paramount has given a vote of confidence in the Star Trek franchise and greenlighted a fourth sequel with the entire reboot cast and a script by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. However, no word whether Lin is returning yet................Hollywood just does not get it! STOP interjecting politically correct social issues into a Sci-Fy action film

Did you sit through GB FBF too?
.......Star Trek estimate is now down to only $56 million for the opening weekend which is not good at all. I give it 2 more weekends at a modest interest and then it's history, as it should be............FBF, the world is pumped for Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

As for her trying to convince Craig to come back...it backs up your claim that she thinks Craig is bigger than the franchise itself and that thought is rather...misguided. And if he comes back in 2018 that would make him the longest serving Bond along with Roger. What a depressing thought.dirtybenny wrote:bjmdds wrote:The next James Bond film will not hit cinemas until late 2018, according to reports, so there's a chance Craig could be back for one more outing. It also shows she has no real skill as a producer, she is stuck on one actor who has pissed allover the role and disrespected her directly. Which is why I do not really believe "she is not going to be rushed", everything from the timing to the writing of the next script was already on track for 2018, the only new thing is trying to get back a Bond the everybody else has moved on from.Veronica wrote:As for her trying to convince Craig to come back...it backs up your claim that she thinks Craig is bigger than the franchise itself and that thought is rather...misguided. I do believe there is some kind of casting going on, maybe to rattle Craig's cage or quietly replace him.But I don't think his cage can be rattled whatever is wrong in his life he blames on Bond. His behavior on the set of the last movie on top of his demands should be enough to blackball him,, but he's just too precious to lose. If she is thinking like that and brings Craig back after he'd made it clear for the 3rd or 4th time he doesn't want the job she'll prove she is a hack and will be out outmaneuvered by some insider soon enough. If she has any sense she is casting right now but this is Babs we are talking about.

Surprising they are finishing where they are this weekend. This MIGHT do a decent but not overpowering box office next year. It's basically a feminine Captain America film with a Hercules undertone. Chris Pine adds nothing to films. I do not know why Hollywood bothers with him as an actor at all.

Whether he adds something to films or not is debatable but he is very easy on the eyes. Women love him...that will certainly be one of the reasons why women will go and buy the ticket.bjmdds wrote: This MIGHT do a decent but not overpowering box office next year. It's sheer madness he wasn't fired the moment he said he'd rather slash his wrists than do another movie. But I guess his complete lack of respect for the role doesn't bother Barbara since she herself pisses all over her father's and Fleming'screation.Omega wrote:It also shows she has no real skill as a producer, she is stuck on one actor who has pissed allover the role and disrespected her directly. The main problem is she doesn't want to remembered as the priviliged daughter that JUST inherited the franchise and continued in the same tone, she wants to be remembered as someone who completely "reinvented" the franchise and made it for certain kind of posh people who watch only "serious","character driven" films.
The kind of people who probably hang out with Mendes. The problem is for this kind of people it's still just James Bond after all and they aren't going to put it up there with Godfather or Citizen Kane.

I'm in complete agreement with you both (Omega/Veronica) in reality Craig can't come back, he's burned that bridge and if he did it would be anticlimactic. Everybody has already moved on including the Craig converts, the only people who still want him to return are Babzy and the Bond haters who were wooed over by Craig's anti-Bond characterization.
"The problem is for this kind of people it's still just James Bond after all and they aren't going to put it up there with Godfather or Citizen Kane."
Of course you're right with this quote V, I get what you're saying, but I thought I point out, no one is going to put her films up there with these two movies because she couldn't touch these movies with a ten foot pole. It would be one thing if her "deep" "character studies" were good, I'd still complain because that isn't what most folks tune in to Bond for in the first place, but I'd complain a bit less if they were quality.
