You did not ask a question, so there was nothing to answer. If you wanted to know if Bond 22 would bring something new, I did answer you,no. The Bourne Mimicry, will be in direct relation to TBU.Captain Nash wrote:Again failing to answer the question bj. Nothing new there.
Bourne may be a popular film this year, but in 2008, Indy, Batman and Bond will reign supreme.
By '08 people will have forgotten Bourne.
The style may be similar, but Bond will keep his rightful place at the top of the action movie ladder.

The Bourne Mimicry.
Well done, how long did it take to come up with that one?
So you object to Bond taking doses from other popular films?
As we discussed earlier, Bond has changed dramatically over the years, and will continue to do so. You feel that the character is being lost. Whereas many feel the character has returned.
The next film will be a huge success, because it's a Bond film. But also because Daniel Craig has made Bond worth seeing again. No more kiddiesque films with supervillains hiding in ice palaces with henchmen scarred with a diamond acne. Whilst surfing an ice wave...well not really.
This is the Bond for now, and he's not going anwhere just yet. Maybe in a few more years the winds will change and you can have the Brosnan type films back. But for now we're happy with what we've got.

In respect to films copying ideas or mimicing others, this will always be the case, i mean the Americans came up with a plethora of spy series
in the 60's trying to cash in on the Bond success.
In the 70's Bond films changed to suit the fashion of the times, remember
after TSWLM, FYEO was supposed to of been the next film, but was changed to MR to cash in on the Stars Wars phenomenom.
In the late 80's LTK was toughened up, to appeal to audiences who had
got used to the action films of the era (in particular Lethal Weapon).
Does it matter if there are say filming elements of Bourne in a Bond film, as long as the Bond ingredients are still there and are not affected.
As 'Nash' says Bourne will be well out of the publics mind in Nov 2008.
I'am sure in 15 yrs time if the Bond franchise is still going..........they will be copying parts from other films of that era.
Mind you if Craig is still in the role then..................then i think 'BJ' will
be starting his own 'SPECTRE' organisation!!!!!

Arthur, exactly what are the "Bond ingredients" that you feel are still there? You are both quite wrong about Bourne being out of the mind of the public in November 2008. The critics and the public WILL be comparing Craig's The Bourne Mimicry in November 2008 to Damon's TBU in August 2007, in style and substance. How could they not? Copying events of a time's era is one thing;however, ripping off a competitor's spy film tone and content is quite different. It diminsihes Eon's originality in the spy movie genre, and relegates them to a follower, not a leader. I think the critics will be a lot more critical of TBM in November 2008 than they were for CR.Arthur Brain wrote:I'am happy also with the franchise at the moment................but i'amOddjob wrote:But for now we're happy with what we've got.

I look a hell of a lot better than that Nash, trust me. Funny thing is, I can picture Craig in that very role, with that very scar, doing very nicely portraying Blofeld.Captain Nash wrote:BJ in fifteen years from now...Arthur Brain wrote: I'am sure in 15 yrs time if the Bond franchise is still going..........they will be copying parts from other films of that era.

Yes 'BJ' i would expect the critics to be tougher for the next Bond film,
as it has a hard act to follow.
In regards to the public making comparisons between Bourne and
Bond in Nov 2008.....................Well Nov 2008 is still quite a long way
off yet, and Bourne is only in the publics mind because of the latest film
TBU.............will there be any more Bournes in the future, if not then the memory of this franchise will diminish over the next 14 months or so!
Maybe in America, there will be some comparisons between the two franchises, as Bourne, as you have said is the premier action/spy franchise at the moment, but i expect when Bond 22 is released in the UK/Europe the critics/reviewers will just be comparing Bond 22 to CR.
Do you see what i mean 'BJ'............IF YOU DO let me know as i'am
still trying to work it out!!

I don't see a problem with the Bond franchise being influenced by other film genres. My gripe, is that CR copied an Alternative SPY movie.
Bond should be leading the pack. This is quite a climbdown and an admission that Bond no-longer leads from the front.

in the spy/action genre of films, but when do you think this happened
the 70's, or by the mid 80's or some other time?

Arthur, what are the SPECIFIC 'Bond ingredients' you still see with CR and Eon's new direction? Do you think the general public interest has waned that much that a direct copy of an alternate spy film is warranted? Maybe the producers of Bourne should copyright their 'spy style' and cause Eon,the producers of The Bourne Mimicry, to rethink their trend for November 2008?

Now this is something that has often been on my mind.
As Bond fans what would the majority of members here want in a future Bond film?
In all seriousness, and please I can live without any smart ar$se comments about Daniel Craig, his looks, his height and whatever else.
What has Eon got to do to win you back?
Answer me that and we may see eye to eye more often.
I'm not completely against many of the concerns here. Daniel Craig though makes a great Bond in my opinon, but I will listen to your other Bondian concerns.

Well, Craig's looks are a major issue for me, so I can't ignore the elephant in the room by not saying "an actor who looks like Bond". But apart from that, I guess a tone that's more in keeping with Bond's history. I'm not talking about a return to Roger Moore-style slapstick comedy, but if they want a more serious tone, it'd be nice if they could learn that "serious" doesn't have to mean "gloomy and depressing".Captain Nash wrote:As Bond fans what would the majority of members here want in a future Bond film?

I think licence to kill is one the best Bond movies and far more Bondian than Casino Royale was.Arthur Brain wrote:They've already done a more 'serious' film, which was 'gloomy andKristatos wrote:Well, Craig's looks are a major issue for me, so I can't ignore the elephant in the room by not saying "an actor who looks like Bond". Craig is dead wrong for the part, he should never have been cast.
The acid test will be the film in production now. i for one am not going to see it if they continue with this stupid reboot plots and dour villians and heros
