NSNA's horse scene was not real;however, Bond 22's use of footage of the stampede might actually be real. Anything to exploit ratings for realism, the new Eon way of doing business;copy and shock. With no genitals to be bashed, they might consider a horse stampede just brutal enough to grab the audience's attention. This time, it may actually backfire.James wrote:

The first film I ever saw was YOLT. My favorite Bond film is not one, but films 2,3,and 4. I like all 3 equally.Arthur Brain wrote:BJ.............good evening from the UK.bjmdds wrote:I was watching Kim Bassinger on the horse in NSNA. Bond was the Elvis and The Beatles of spy films in the 1960s. It was a true iconic fascination, especially when there were no multiplex cinemas, yet look at the revenue the films did. That is why I am so passionate about the current situation with Bond. I find it so foreign that I hardly recognize it as a Bond product. Throughout the years the franchise changed somewhat with the times;however, they always selected a more or less proper Bond, until now.

Sweeney, looks like gadgets will be utilized in the car Bond drives in the next film. Does this bother you, since you like more grit? If there is no Q, who will describe the gadgets, or will Craig's Bond just use them ad hoc?The Sweeney wrote:Nice photo comparison there Stocks. However, BOTH Moore and Connery can be considered handsome gentlemen. The same cannot be said about the current Bond. And did Connery really look younger?
He looks more or less the same agewise, but whatever you like to see.

I cant speak for the 'Sweeney' 'BJ', but he has a similar vision on the Bond films as i do.bjmdds wrote:I like gadgets in Bond. The Sweenster prefers Bond utilizing his fists and brains to get out of jams.
Yes, gadgets are fine as long as they are not ridiculous, but i do prefer my Bond films to be more realistic in the fight scenes.
In CR we saw Craig strangle a guy, and we saw him cut up.
This to me is more a realistic scenario, than say in the past when Bond had finished a fight scene, he just dusted himself down and carried on as though nothing had happened.
I think it was the more realistic style in CR which appealed to the mass audience.
From what i have read from quotes from Paul Haggis this theme will
continue in Bond 22, but it seems there will be a nod to previous Bond films, in that gadjets of some form will make a reapearance.

The 'more realistic style' was the appeal it seems in CR, with Craig going along for the ride, and being allowed that luxury, which the previous 5 actors, for the most part, were not, EA.Arthur Brain wrote:I cant speak for the 'Sweeney' 'BJ', but he has a similar vision on the Bond films as i do.bjmdds wrote:I like gadgets in Bond. Times change bj, and the Bond films change. Take the first two then add GF and YOLT. Already you have signifigantly different styles of Connery Bond films.
Then take MR and FYEO, Roger Moore takes the approach of silly humour in MR, but then in the follow up is far more serious.
Pierce Brosnan was at his best in GE, and for the most part TND and TWINE aswell, but I found by DAD had lost that hard edge, and seemed to be going along for the ride. Though he was a great Bond. I will admit I liked Pierce as OO7.
But my point is, the Bond films have changed so much over the years, and have copied over styles of film along the way. The grittiness in CR was a winning factor for me. I hope it continues into Bond 22. But the rumours that some of the more traditional Bond elements will also return should at least keep some of the members here happy.
You're going to have to accept Daniel Craigs return I'm afraid, but maybe it's time to give the guy a fair go. You don't have to like him or call him the best Bond, but he is Bond right now. time stops for no man, so he'll have his run and move on. But who will be in the role next???
If some of the more traditional elements return in Bond 22 could some of the members here maybe start too enjoy a Craig Bond or is the only problem for you the casting of Daniel Craig?

No Q or Moneypenny in Bond 22, so proclaims Barbara;therefore, CR II will be shown to the world, 2 minutes after Craig's Bond shot poor Mr. White in the leg. It appears to be an original script, based on Fleming's ideas, not books, per se. In regards to Bond changing, that is fine but rebooting a 4 decade franchise with a timeline out of sequence with Dench as M was problem number one for me, WHOEVER Bond was. Secondly, as long as Craig is in the role this will not be enjoyable for me to watch. I do not like him as Bond, and I can honestly tell you I never will. I tolerated Dalton in the role, found him lacking, but much better than Craig, and more in line of a traditional looking Bond. Broccoli is now ecstatic over Craig. She owns the company. She can do whatever she wants. She won't get my support until Craig is vanquished from the role, and I hope sooner, rather than later.

Well I guess there's no pleasing everyone, and I can appreciate your disdain. It's a route I think Eon could've avoided, but in some way I think it was a way to sell CR.
As the begining of Bonds career, the first Bond novel. But there were other ways to acheive this without the reboot.
However the revamp or reboot whatever you want to call it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm easily pleased, and was very happy with CR and especially Daniel Craig.
But to place all the blame on Barbara Broccoli is unfair. The Bond are made very much in a commitee style.
Broccoli and Wilson, the writers Purvis, Wade and Haggis director Martin Campbell and then finally Amy Pascal from Sony would've had some input. Brooccli receives alot of unfair flack around here. Some of it maybe warranted. But not all of it.
It was also not a sole decision of hers to hire Craig.
So what will Bond 22 bring us. Anything new? maybe a Bond film without Bond falling in love? Time will tell how this pans out. It could backfire and blow up in there face. In which case everyone loses. Or it could hit the jackpot (again!). Bourne me be an influence and on everyones lips at present, but come november 2008 I think you'll find it'll be Bourne who?
Bond is back.

The Bourne Mimicry...November 2008.
I think that you may find Bond 22 to be THE BOURNE MIMICRY, a direct copy of the style of TBU, now with one of their directors as well, still no Q,no Moneypenny, and a Dench M which still makes no sense. Nash, if you saw TBU and liked it, look for it's style in The Bourne Mimicry in November 2008, when Eon unveils their next film worldwide.Captain Nash wrote:Well I guess there's no pleasing everyone, and I can appreciate your disdain.
