Doesn't matter anymore. The traditional tall and dark-haired Bond is no more.

Skyfall itself is almost the reason I renounced my loyalty and love for the franchise, but there's something from the old movies, the first 20 that is, that keep me back to it. I can't let go, as of yet. And character-driven stories don't belong to the James Bond film franchise, at the slightest. Give me the stoical and humourous modern-day knight (a.k.a. secret agent as it stereotypically stood for in the 1960s), along with all the proper assets (gadgets and allies PLUS the glamourous locations) any day over that boring, drama queen telenovella, geopolitical flicks.

Might as well cast anything from the Zerg race in the StarCraft franchise as the next Bonds wen Craig retires.

It was like "so yeah, have a nice life, don't let the door hit ya on the way out." If it was expected then it would be different but this...
Anyhow Babs talks about Craig with lines like:"Thinking about who will be the next Bond is like thinking who will be your next husband while you are walking down the aisle."
And I thought hiring Sofia Coppola was a prime example of nepotism...but this beats everything else by a mile.

It should be a Dr. Phil show instead :!: Don't be shocked if this garbage does $90-100 million in the USA opening weekend either, for many EON minions turn out for anything they shovel, except Dalton for some reason. After the initial realization that this plot is OFFENDING to the Bond traditionalists' psyche, people will not bother to see it repeatedly to drive up the box office take.
Indefinitely. Regardless of the box office success it becomes, and so was the case with Craig's all three so far, I find myself very difficult to revisit them, at all. Even for educational purposes.

and what educational purposes are there?
And I have to say you avatar is great!
The accuracy of "realism" in the stories, the portrayal of MI6 etc... Good grief, I never realized the British secret service could be underdogs... And the fact they employ an agent (who also happens to be their 'best') who is as competent as a whiny schoolboy.

And thank you, Brosnan is indefinitely the best Bond, on par with Sean Connery and Roger Moore.
I agree. I mean the potrayal of MI6 in Skyfall was particulary...urgh. I mean he doesn't pass any tests and she let's him on a mission. I don't know-maybe that's realistic in Babs' mind? And the head of MI6 hidden in an empty house with three explosives without any real protection...good God. Realistic _.///
Very. And not only Babs, but the other hag called Amy Pascal had a hand in changing the entire image of the series, too... For her satisfactions. Back to when I joined, I wrote a full review of Skyfall, which did try... yes, 'try' is the word... to analyze what happened in that movie, and how such circumstances were possible. The head of a first world country's government intelligence agency is targeted, marked for death, kidnapped by her own agent to some lodge to be a scapegoat, with no back up, no assuring protection given to her. A sadder fact is that a lackey like Raoul Silva was able to take down the entire MI6 with one touch of a button, imagine that. The real British SIS must have been caught in hysterical laughter after seeing that movie.

Not according to his hardcore fans. They think Craig still looks good and fit enough to continue playing Bond for the next umpteen years and set a new record. Sadly, it looks as though that could very well be the case.

I wish I could believe that, but the evidence of Skyfall suggests otherwise. Even QOS was praised to the skies by critics when it was first released, and portrayed as a financial success (we were mocked for saying "yes, but..." - sour grapes, they said). It's only now that the not-we's are admitting that it was a steaming pile of dog's eggs.

Kingsman is our traditional Bond people. Babs can cast a Zerg from StarCraft as the next Bond for all she likes.

Is Kingsmen that good? It's out on DVD now, I might pick out a copy. Firth does look very Bond like from what I have seen in the trailers.

I saw the two Dalton films in the cinema today, they played the Spectre trailer before the films. It could have been.... a Star Wars, or any film form any other series for all my lack of interest.

Kingsmen is a good one. A little over the top but it's not hard to imagine it as a bond movie

Kingsman: The Secret Service owns it. But above all the references to the old spy shows/series as well as movies, may I remind you that it's brought to you by the producers of Kick-Ass, so expect some ridiculousness in it, too. Didn't bother me, though, I watched the film for 25 times already, and would still watch it, again.
