Not to cause any offence to the supporters of the US team here, but you can only rely on the goalie for so long before something is bound to give. The US had some chances, and they did pick up the pace towards the end, but Belgium was all over them for pretty much the entire game.

Re: World Cup 2014
The US goalie did have a good game.
I'm not sure who I want to win. Maybe i should be traditional and cheer against Argentina and Germany. Or I could support my three neighbours - France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The quarter finals are:
Brazil - Columbia
France - Germany
Netherlands - Costa Rica
Argentia - Belgium
my predictions (other should do them too!)
Brazil 1-2 Columbia
France 1-1 Germany Germany win on penalties
Netherlands 2-0 Costa Rica
Argentina 2-1 Belgium after extra time

You think Brazil will get knocked out in the quarter-finals? Most people have them favourites to win.

I think they may get knocked out as they do not have the best of teams and have lots of pressure. Also lots of pundits think Columbia may win. But Brazil have Neymar and home advantage.Kristatos wrote:You think Brazil will get knocked out in the quarter-finals? Most people have them favourites to win.

It could have been Brazil v England, or Netherlands v England (or Greece)!

I predict it will be Germany 1- 0 France at half time - the goal will be a header.

I told Kristatos Brazil would win.
I think the semi finals will be:
Brazil 1-2 Germany (extra time)
Argentina 1-0 Netherlands

Well, I don't know about you, but I think they might have a hard time winning this one.carl stromberg wrote:I told Kristatos Brazil would win.

Re: World Cup 2014
That was quite the shocker. 7-1!
I don't feel knowledgeable enough to make a prediction for tonight, especially after last night's upset, but I'd like Argentina to win, to preserve the dynamic of a European vs a South American team in the final.

Looks like I got my wish. 4-2 on penalties.

Re: World Cup 2014
I sincerely hope that Germany wins today for two reasons:
First, because I really like their team. They have some talented players, and after getting second place in 2002, and then third place in 2006 and 2010, it would be nice to see them finally win the World Cup.
And secondly, to prevent further humiliation for Brazil. It's bad enough they couldn't even win for third place, but to have Argentina win the World Cup on Brazilian soil would just add more insult to injury since they're big rivals.

Re: World Cup 2014
I'm kind of torn on who to support. Being English, my natural instinct is to cheer on whoever's playing against Germany. But I know at least one German personally, whereas I don't know any Argentinians.

Re: World Cup 2014
Germany and Argentina are England's main rivals. Argentina because of 1986 and 1998, and Germany because of 1990 and 1996 when they ruined England's big chances to win a tournament. I'd have to support Argentina because I'm bitter about 1990 anf 1996.

I hope Lionel Messi and the Argentinian goalie have good bodyguards. Argie futbol fans have been known to murder players for less.
