Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 million
I'm shocked he sold out I never thought I'd live to see the day he didn't own star wars. I thought we'd have to live through his children screwing up the franchise.
One story is he sold now to avoid tax hikes next year.

Why does he want to avoid tax hikes? He must be very rich.Dr. No wrote:I'm shocked he sold out I never thought I'd live to see the day he didn't own star wars. I thought we'd have to live through his children screwing up the franchise.

He's got a 4 billion dollar check in his pocket, I'll say he's rich!Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry wrote:Why does he want to avoid tax hikes? I love these liberal movie makers it all about fairness right up to the moment they'd have to cut a check.
Most of all I'm hopefully Disney can turn star wars around, give me some good movies! please! Clone wars the cartoon is better than any of the new movies Lucas made

After his divorce it took Lucas until 2005 to make back his fortune

That's why i admire JK Rowling. She actually puts her money where her mouth is and refuses to participate in tax avoidance schemes.Dr. No wrote:I love these liberal movie makers it all about fairness right up to the moment they'd have to cut a check.

My 11-year-old nephew is excited about it. But he didn't grow up with the original films-see them in the movie theaters, FCOL-the way I did.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion
South park made a show about Disney buying star wars, [spoil]Cartman stole the election for Obama so the Chinese could blackmail Obama, the Chinese wanted "Star Wars", Obama is supposed to take it away from Disney and give it to them. Cartman tires to alter the deal and get himself cast as Luke Skywalkers son, the Chinese refuse. Cartman is captured by Disney, Micky Mouse flying Slave 1, Cartman switches sides because Disney gives him what he wants by then the town find the stolen ballots but can't decide what to do because the Chinese are trying to save Star Wars From Disney[/spoil]

Chewie will already be dead in Episode 7 since he died in one of the post-Jedi novels.Omega wrote:Ford is willing to come back too. Guess Chewbacca is his Wookiee bitch after allJames wrote:I bet Mark Hamill is sitting by the telephone now.
Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion
If they want to include Chewbacca, I doubt they'll allow themselves to be hamstrung by Extended Universe continuity. The number of people who read those novels are a tiny fraction of the total Star Wars audience. Even George Lucas has said that he doesn't read those things, though he's happy to take his share of the profits from them.FormerBondFan wrote:Chewie will already be dead in Episode 7 since he died in one of the post-Jedi novels.Omega wrote:Ford is willing to come back too. Re: Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion
They will have to ignore the books, after jedi there was a clone emperor, clone Luke, cloned old masters, even the books for the movies contradict the established movie story line. And as Kris said Lucas ignored the books, the new writers and directors should ignore them too. IMO they are not that good most of them really are not true to the spirit of star wars. Finally Chewy has to be in the new movies. He'll probably be looking after Han and leia's kids, I could see those to having a little jedi girl pirate crashing around the galaxy on her own with chewy in the falcon.Kristatos wrote:If they want to include Chewbacca, I doubt they'll allow themselves to be hamstrung by Extended Universe continuity.
