Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
YOLT was the first Bond film to deviate significantly from Fleming, but I have a tremendous soft spot for it nonetheless, as it was the first Bond film I saw, at the age of 10. I loved it, and I think the things you love at that age tend to stay with you for life. My introduction to Fleming came a year or two later, with the Hutchinson Bull's Eye books that I mentioned in another thread. The Sweeney wrote: I find DAD and Moonraker the most far removed as Bond films. They are nothing remotely like Fleming or the classic movies. YOLT comes a close third.
I think there was more of the plot of Moonraker (the book) in DAD than than in Moonraker (the film). Add to that Bond being brainwashed into assassinating M (from TMWTGG) and I don't think DAD was as far from Fleming as you make out.

Unfortunately for me, the OTT tone throughout, along with the worst script for dialogue in the whole franchise, the very bad CGI, invisible cars and plain nasty direction was overwhelming for me to notice any Flemingesque moments. I find DAD the worst Bond film, and the most alien in terms of any relation to the cinematic Bond or Fleming.Kristatos wrote:YOLT was the first Bond film to deviate significantly from Fleming, but I have a tremendous soft spot for it nonetheless, as it was the first Bond film I saw, at the age of 10. The modern setting of the Craig films (far removed from the setting and feel of the Fleming novels) plus Craig's lack of the the old concept of Bondness mean that I can't associate his Bond with Fleming at all. At least the post-Connery Bonds has the gunbarrell, handsome charming Bond etc so I could link them a bit to Fleming.
Bring back Bond!

Spyfall is one of the strange birds in awhile, people like Sweeney who love it then there are plenty who didn't like but lets not say hate it. A kind of lukewarm reaction.

http://t.news.msn.com/us/15m-without-po ... east-coast It's been all day and so far veered a bit SW of NYC. It's at it's peak now. Rain not that bad in NYC. Plenty of wind in NYC and coastal flooding but not inland. New Jersey is hit harder with rain and power outages. Crane bent over on 90th floor of Manhattan high rise building. Idiot builder was supposed to remove it days ago. Entire street has to be blocked off now in case it detaches

The rain looks to be passing NYC by. The buildings should be able to take the wind, flooding IMO this will be the next problem storm surge and what rain does fall.

They had a similar idea for the 40th, Bond captured this time it offered the chance to relive some of the Golden Gun drama. They flinched.bjmdds wrote:

Unfortunately they did copy Bourne, besides both having the same occupation (and initials) there really was no similarities. Certainly not in the written format and definitely not in the movies. I suppose when in 2014 we have Daniel in the Bond version of Prometheus we'll be told how Moonraker opened the door and the facehugger really is Fleming-esque.
Michael G Wilson will have his guest shot in the beginning of the movie as the dissolving engineer.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I am lucky. I had no power from 9:30PM last night until 6:00AM this morning. Only a few houses in my area had some minor wind damage;however, I have 6 families I am friendly with who live in central New Jersey. Disaster for them. NO power, NO running water, sewer treatment centers broken, NO land telephones, trees all over houses and roads, etc. Beach front areas in NYC and NJ got killed by waves from ocean, NOT rain. We only got .75 inches of rain which is nothing. They predicted 4-8 inches of rain so they were way off with that. The major problem was downed trees causing fires of homes from the electrical wires. The joke is this Sunday is the big NYC marathon at 26.2 miles long through the 5 boroughs. That seems more important to city officials than next Tuesday's elections
The bridges and tunnels are starting to reopen and schools will be closed tomorrow as well but the stock market will reopen tomorrow. I am in a good spot. I had a minimal power outage of only 8 hours 15 minutes and basically no structural damage to my home or my neighborhood. Some might have to level their homes and rebuild and some might not have power for 7-10 days
To hell with Sandy

Disney is buying Lucas out!

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — The Walt Disney Company announced Tuesday it has agreed to buy Lucasfilm, which includes “Star Wars” franchise, for $4.05 billion in cash and stock from George Lucas.
“Lucasfilm reflects the extraordinary passion, vision, and storytelling of its founder, George Lucas,” Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, said in a statement

Maybe now we'll get star wars 7,8,9.
Lucas said he'd never do them because of that hate he'd get from fans, maybe all the hate from the edited blu-rays got to him
