It's ridiculous comments like
this one, courtesy of an IMDb Craig fanatic, that convinces me more and more that most of the people brought in with the reboot are young punks that really didn't care for James Bond before. Then for God sake just go and watch something else that's more suitable to your tastes, instead of enforcing all these changes on Bond. The Bond films had their own unique elements and qualities that made it so different and fun compared to other spy films. It's what made James Bond popular all over the world, and inspired various films and TV shows. Even Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64 is inspired by Bond. Why would you want to destroy such a legacy?
But as Napoleon Solo mentioned, there are many fans that want the Bond films to be grand scale Gone With The Wind type of epics, that win numerous awards. They scorn at the idea of Bond just being fun escapist entertainment, and will look at fans who prefer the classic films, especially the Roger Moore fans, as uncultured fools with no appreciation for artistic creativity.
Now I'm not saying all Craig fans are like that. There are open-minded Craig fans, such as Sweeney, who see the faults in things like tinkering or removing traditional Bond elements, and who don't agree with every decision the producers make. But there are quite a few new fans that don't care or understand what made Bond so popular in the first place. And as I said before, because the fan base has been split in two, the producers are going to have a very difficult time with pleasing both audiences. But by the looks of it, It seems they rather just cater to the new audience than the old one.
