Why I just glanced at it I thought they were not going to do another reboot, I think Spiderman is showing them how bad an idea it can be.FormerBondFan wrote:I don't like the sound of this.

I can tell I've been around here too long when they list the 6 actors to play Bond I going like No, Craig on its not the same Bond. Bad Reboot!

I think the Iron Man producers and the studio should take Chris Nolan's advise that comic book stories do not go forever on film. If Downey Jr. leaves, Iron Man should retire.Omega wrote:Why I just glanced at it I thought they were not going to do another reboot, I think Spiderman is showing them how bad an idea it can be.FormerBondFan wrote:I don't like the sound of this.

Michael G. Wilson will be the next Iron Man. Since midnight grosses were only a small part of The Avengers' tally on Friday, it's unlikely that demand is even close to satisfied at this point. Using past summer kick-off comic book movies as a comparison, The Avengers has a legitimate shot at reaching $200 million this weekend. Even if it doesn't get quite that high, it is practically a mathematical certainty that The Avengers winds up setting a new opening weekend record ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2's $169.2 million.

Seriously though, wouldn't be better for Iron Man retire once Downey Jr. leaves. Like Chris Nolan said, comic book stories do not go forever on film.bjmdds wrote:Michael G. Wilson will be the next Iron Man.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
You cannot do to these franchises what Bond has done over 50 years. Pie in the faced Garfield's Spiderman will do half what Tobey did. Bond can get away with it because it is an iconic franchise. Bale as Iron Man for example? Would it work? Would he do it? Hollywood's ONLY non-Potter draws seem the Twilight vampires and superheroes. Where is the blockbuster Raiders Of The Lost Ark type film of the 21st century? It certainly wasn't John Carter.

Nolan's Bat will end this summer. After that, the Batfranchise should take a long rest (please NO reboot), and other DC superheroes need exposure. Iron Man should follow the same example along with other Marvel superheroes. It would be nice if we have superhero flicks with original stories like The Incredibles.

Retire Batman. Bring in Superman and other DC Comic superheroes. Chris Reeve's Supie films were classic. No one can deny that, but they ended crashing and burning down with III and especially IV. SR didn't seem to match up Chris' Bat so we have a total reboot MOS. If you want to reboot a DC Comic character, do one for the Green Lantern. And again, Iron Man should retire once Downey Jr. decides to leave.bjmdds wrote:No Batman reboots now. A huge mistake.

I think the box office receipts for The Dark Knight Rises and the new Superman film will determine whether they do that.FormerBondFan wrote: Retire Batman. Bring in Superman and other DC Comic superheroes.

FBF, Avengers slaughtered Potter's record
http://www.masslive.com/entertainment/i ... st_70.html Who needs Avatar? Who needs Bond? THIS is a new concept of teaming up superheroes on the big screen. Twilight? No way will it do Avenger numbers. Eon is shuttering in their boots with this news, right FBF? DH-2 starts on HBO next Saturday
I will be watching it often. Do you watch it on DVD? Did you get cable yet to watch it on HBO? I will see the Avengers Saturday May 19. Has anyone here seen it? Domestic: $200,300,000 31.2%
+ Foreign: $441,500,000 68.8%
= Worldwide: $641,800,000

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I saw Superman III with Pryor in it and almost walked out of the theatre. I saw IV and almost walked out of the theatre. BOTH were drivel and trash. Nolan did it right with pure 100% serious themes, with no campy Otis characters nor boring Hackman Lex Luther types.FormerBondFan wrote:Retire Batman. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
When it gets to Batman and Robin territory its time the kill the franchise. Iron Man easily could be recast in smart way and kept alive for a long time, so could Nolan's Bat, if they don't make a big deal about changing tone or directors, Bond used to do it smart be easy for another movie series to pick up the basics of how it is done and keep making Iron Man. Except for Bond Craig leaves they can't go on with the reboot unless they hire a WWE wrestler.

$200 million
Avengers avenge all the fallen super hero movies. This one is for you Green lantern, rest in piece
katniss is going to China!! already did more than any Bond movie since GE. The odds were ever in her favor. Although I still wonder why its not that big overseas. Guess its like how Star Trek did 70% of it BO in America and only made $100 million overseas.

The question now is whether the Bat's record will conquer Avengers' this summer.bjmdds wrote:FBF, Avengers slaughtered Potter's recordhttp://www.masslive.com/entertainment/i ... st_70.html
Give me Avatar over Bond. Everything is preferable over Bond now, even Twilight.Who needs Avatar? Who needs Bond? THIS is a new concept of teaming up superheroes on the big screen. Twilight? No way will it do Avenger numbers.
How long it will take the general audience to forget Bond 23 before it comes out.Eon is shuttering in their boots with this news, right FBF?
Yes, I did watch it on DVD. I have it on multiple formats: single-disc DVD, double-disc DVD, Blu-Ray/DVD combo w/Digital Copy, and 3D Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray/DVD combo w/Digital Copy.DH-2 starts on HBO next SaturdayI will be watching it often. Do you watch it on DVD? Did you get cable yet to watch it on HBO?

The numbers back him up. "The Avengers" audience was 60 percent male and 40 percent female, and 50 percent over 25 and 50 percent under. Couples made up 55 percent of the crowds, teens 21 percent.
