Batman Begins didn't have a less sophisticated hero.Batman and Bruce Wayne were present and accounted for.I can see Batman Begins and Star Trek said in the same breath,Cr lacked Bond and the series is still lacking Bond.Craig thinks he is campy and he think people will line up to see him frown and try to be morbidly funny? At least they recognize there is a lot riding on this film because all of Craig's other jobs have bombed and they admit Dragon Tats flopped too. That's new :007:

After all the arguments I've had with Craig fanboys on some forums, It's great to see this in Print.

"for his part, Craig could use a hit. “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” was a commercial success, but several of his other recent films have bombed;"

The amount of times I've had Fanboys of his telling me I was wrong that Infact ALL his films had been successful.

It's as true as " The Greatest Actor Of His Generation. " :P

Finally other people are starting to get that Craig isn't the box office draw EON and the fanboy boards would have you believe he is.

In the last year there are dozens of stories about how Craig is not a Box office draw I don't know who told these people Tattoo was successful but MGM said it wasn't and it was supposed to be the biggest movie of the winter.

What I though was funny was Craig telling Babs he was stupid for working for her.

I think it wasn't the hit they were expecting and Barely scrapped through to make any proffit, But compared to the other
turkeys he's put out. I'm sure it felt like a success to Craig. or the closest he's likley to get.

None of Craig's movies since CR have made money. Reporters acting like Tattoo was a hit is either tragic or incredibly funny, I don't know which i prefer. MGM said it didn't make money and they would not be participating with the second and third unless Sony does something to make them profitable. Is that code for hire cheaper actors or just spend less than $100 million per movie?

Don't matter it not time to chalk it up to a W in Craig's column Craig. Since the summer of 2011 it suddenly a shock to people he's not a draw.

I posted it in a few other places on the forum which always happens.

It does look awful with Craig looking like Sid James and talking in his stupid mumbling actor's voice.

It's funny there is no Mention of Bond in the trailer except for a brief 007 at the end.
Do they Know QOS stunk so bad that they'll have to try and sell this as a "Non Bond"
or try and fool some cinema goers in to thinking it's Dragon tattoo 2.

I can't believe the reaction to this trailer. It's not just on the fanboy boards, it's all over the intertubes. Look at the cinematography! "Some men are coming to kill us, we're going to kill them first" - OMG best movie dialogue since Casablanca!!!11eleven

That line is the worst written line in any Bond film, ever, and the F^$%#ing film hasn't even been released yet. Craig's mumbling delivery somehow manages to make the line even worse, which is a tremendous feat. The lines in Cannon Films' scripts from the 80s starring Charles Bronson and Chuck Norris are great thespian material compared to this stuff. Hell, I think I'm going to go watch Death Wish 4 right now just to wash the memory of that teaser trailer out of my brain.

Oh, I think Haggis's "little finger" line was worse. But I've seen writers praise this f**king line (the Skyfall one that is). Paul Cornell, a writer whose work on Doctor Who I absolutely love, tweeted "that line is so Fleming". The world has gone mad.

I'd argue that the "little finger" line at least has a smidgen of smuttiness to it that makes it mildly amusing. The Skyfall line sounds like badly written action movie dialogue (so bad it makes Chuck Norris movies look well written) and is somehow made worse by Craig's delivery.

And I wouldn't pay much mind to the chattering classes right now. They've convinced themselves that Craig is wonderful, just as they've convinced themselves that Obama is somehow guaranteed reelection. For whatever reason (and my Obama reference is not meant to spark a political debate), the chattering classes, who are supposedly smart, always move in lockstep. My point isn't political because the chattering classes in the end actually hurt Obama. They convey the "consensus" that Obama is guaranteed reelection, which fosters complacency amongst his supporters, and then when the polling really shifts come September or so, they'll all act totally    that a president running for reelection in a bad economy is running behind the challenger. Oh my, I never would have guessed that, since it's EXACTLY what happened in 1980 and 1992!!! :->

The same thing applies to Craig, except that here I do have an axe to grind. The consensus is that Craig is wonderful, and so, until the consensus changes, EON could release trailers that consist entirely of Daniel Craig having bowel movements and the chattering classes would coo with delight. Meanwhile, I think an increasing number of people are starting to think the same thing we're saying here and that Tim Stanley just wrote in the Telegraph. They went to CR and might have enjoyed it as a change from the overindulgence of DAD. They went to QOS on the basis of CR and hated it. Now it's a case of "fool my thrice . . . "

Mark my words, in a few years the "consensus" will be that Daniel Craig was a joke as Bond. The consensus when they were Bond was that Lazenby was a joke and that Dalton was too serious. Now the consensus is that OHMSS is one of the better films and Lazenby is at least competent, and the consensus is that Dalton is the closest to Fleming's Bond. All things pass, and this current madness that passes as the current consensus on Craig will pass as well.

What the kill them first line? I can think a lot of situations where Bond was at a station under attack like in Dr No and FRWL and Fleming never had him say we'll kill them first. Sounds like Schwarzenegger in total recall.

Except that Schwarzenegger could deliver those lines in the hammy style that made them work, after a fashion. You had to be in the mood for one of AHNOLD's movies, but if you were, those sorts of lines worked. The line is totally ludicrous in SF because it 1. doesn't belong in a Bond film 2. totally goes against the grain of the emo crap surrounding it and 3. Is delivered in a dull or pretentious (I can't tell which) way by Craig that makes the line even worse.

I know that internet hype does not always equal box-office success (Snakes on a Plane proved that), but the reaction to the Skyfall trailer has rather killed any hope for me that the film won't be a success at the box office. SOAP wasn't part of a long-running franchise with a built-in fanbase, SF is.

Not to get off track, but I think you have it wrong with the media consensus on Obama. I think that even if Romney was 30 points behind in the polls, they'd still be hyping it as neck-and-neck, because a horse race makes for a much better story.

That line to them passes for quality? wth are they smoking, it's like every d**n word cregg says is suddenly worthy, he's as wooden as keanu reeves (wait even worse).

A line that stayed in My head not from a bond film was when Robert Downey Junior in the avengers said: if we can't save the world, then you're d**n right we'll avenge it, that's coming from an action film but Downey Junior said that line in a way that made it really powerful and really set the dynamic for the whole reason for the team in place, lines like that are what stick out.

Cregg saying people want to kill us we're going to kill them first is stupid, what next these people want to get on a plane....we're going to get on the plane first (stupid audience goes wow dat be a great actor dere).

A true actor gives as good as he/she can get from Deniro, Pacino, Hoffman, Downey Junior, Hopkins, Cain, Freeman etc, they work with a script no matter how good or bad and stand up and make the audience pay attention, this pretentious I'm blatantly reading My lines from a script, roles beneath Me & clearly hate doing this but everything else I've done has flopped shows craig is a waste of space, most actors who mumble get shown the door (but that wont happen since he's babs pet obsession).

What happened to giving as good as you can get, why have our standards as a society dropped so far that craggy features is being praised for being outright beep, the people praising that line and his acting have to wake up, if Brosnan acted bad I'd say the same thing, craig knows he's got a safety net no matter how bad he does so once again he's doing a halfass job, not even caring and some of his fans are ok with it?, tell you what if Bill Murray doesn't do gb3 and once again does a voice over despite how much I loved gb1, groundhog day etc I wouldn't stand for it, cregg is crap and it's about time someone told that no talent just how it is.

The key to box office success is repeat viewings. After one look at the ACTUAL pathetic Mendes/Eon mess, it will be all over, especially once the vampires take center stage the following week and relegating most of the female viewers to Twilight's ending film. One weekend for Bond 23, then it's straight downhill, and quick. The Hobbit will nail the coffin shut on Bond 23.
