I don't think LALD is that bad - it is of it's time; it's a good thriller with good locations and some iconic characters. There are some similar racist language in some of the other noevels "chigros" for example. One bit in LALD I felt was a bit odd was the part where Bond is escaping from Mr Big in New York and he is facing Big's henchman in a car park and Fleming writes lines like "Bond shot at one negro, then punched the negro in the red shirt...then was shot at by the tall negro" etc. The use of the word negro is very jarring.

I have to say that i find this game much harder than the movie games, because Fleming's books were far more consistent in quality than the movies, so votes have to be made based on factors that would be considered nitpicking when you're talking about films that range in quality from QOS to Goldfinger. For example, I voted against TMWTGG this time, although I don't really consider it that inferior to Fleming's other work.
