It certainly wasn't essential.
I still think the criticsm he received from the media when he was announced as Bond, had an impact to his phsyique. His entrance via the Thames, wearing a lifejacket and the fact he looked quite 'wimpy' (As shown in the picture below) was probably the catalyst to the bottom picture.
“I'd like to thank the Royal Marines for bringing me in like that and scaring the s--- out of me,” Bond Hardman Daniel Craig.

The lifejacket although considered un-Bondian was a requirement of the Royal Marines as a saftey issue. And if you look at the video again, you'll see they're all wearing them too.
Not really a Bond issue either. He didn't wear one during the film.

I understand it was a requirement, but it was poorly set up IMO. He looked like he was trying to look cool. Problem is, Cool and safe are just not a good combo.

I don't think you go from the top photo to the bottom photo in a few months by eating wheat germ and lifting weights. The beach photo shows an overbuilt Bond, unlike any before, and quite noticeably different. I guess he was made to look like that so it could possibly be believed he actually could crash through walls. The public relations staff did a poor job of setting up Craig's introduction as well, ' no bout a doubt it', Young Skywalker.

CR had nice box office numbers internationally, but did anyone notice the numbers Spiderman 3 is doing, in such a short time? So far, it has done $802 million worldwide, and $500 million internationally. For a film with luke warm reviews, it certainly has achieved, and will continue to achieve it seems, phenomenol box office numbers.

Desperate???? Comparing pictures of a person's body months apart is not desperate. Look at what is going on in baseball with chemical supplements. Players are gaining weight, just look at Barry Bonds as one example.

For anyone living outside the US or who doesn't follow baseball it wont mean a thing bj.
But it's clear that you think Craig did more than just worked out to gain his physique.
And that it's too much muscle for an actor playing Bond.
How do you get on with Sean Connery being a runner up in a Mr. Unviverse competition?

Connery NEVER looked muscle bound. Take a look at Stallone's Rocky from I and compare it to III and IV. Hollywood is no different from other entertainment entities. Actors might very well do what they must to augment their appearance. Craig's physique in Lara Croft Tomb Raider would probably not fly in CR, so he got himself looking as he did on the beach scene.

Captain Nash wrote:But you're saying he used steroids to do so?
Do you have any proof of any of this?
No, I am saying it COULD be possible that a performer, such as Craig, might have utilized medicinal methods to bulk up. It is done all the time in sports and entertainment. I personally condemn the use of these substances, whoever does it. I just think it is pretty naive not to consider a celebrity would use enhancement medications to augment their appearance.

Well anything is possible. But it appears that you'll do anything to take a swipe at Daniel Craig.
This is just going round and round in circles. Where's Luds when you need him.
Daniel Craig went slightly OTT with his bodybuilding. I think Craig's small frame didn't help matters. He looked like a Lightweight boxer who had bulked up to fight in the Middleweight division. It didn't seem like a very natural look.

The stupid a-r-s-e hole is busy locking various threads on MI6 as we speak - thank god!
I thought we weren't allowed to use language like that.
Seems there's one rule for some and another for others.
Slagging off a moderator from another site isn't very nice carl.

To be fair to Luds, and various other forum mods, I have watched many threads of my own been closed down, and I never once had issues with it if there was a valid reason. I've also seen threads turn into downright nasty flame wars (something that hasn't happened on here thankfully.....yet!) and the mods have had no choice but to close them down too, regardless of whether it was an anti Craig starting the trouble, or the pro Craig gang throwing their weight around.
