George Lazenby Bond, James Bond This weekend (8\13-15\2010)

Post by Goldeneye »

Poor George Lazenby. His name is a punch line, all because he starred in one James Bond film, and then decided not to sign a contract to reprise the role.

But was the Australian actor, as often is assumed, the worst Bond? Judge for yourself this weekend at Criterion Cinemas in New Haven.

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service," from 1969, is the sixth film in the Bond franchise, and the first not to star Sean Connery. In it, Bond (Lazenby) locks horns, for the second time, with international supervillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savalas), who wants to unleash a worldwide plague. It also stars Diana Rigg and Joanna Lumley.

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday and at 11:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. at the theater at Temple and George streets in New Haven. The film is 142 minutes and is rated PG.
