Got around to seeing Salt..... The film was action packed story had twists/turns got my dose of Jolie......the wait was worth it..if anyone out there decides to view it and dislikes it your entiled to your opinion but I will make major fun of you..........

LOS ANGELES – Tom Mankiewicz, the screenwriter of such James Bond films as "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Live and Let Die" and the first two "Superman" movies, has died in Los Angeles at 68.

Mankiewicz (MANK-uh-witz) died Saturday at his home after battling cancer. He underwent the Whipple operation, which is used to treat pancreatic cancer, three months ago.

A cause of death was not immediately known.

He was a member of Hollywood's legendary Mankiewicz family: his father was Joseph L. Mankiewicz, director of classics including "All About Eve" and "A Letter to Three Wives."

He was also the nephew of "Citizen Kane" co-writer Herman J. Mankiewicz.

Tom Mankiewicz directed the 1987 movie "Dragnet" and several episodes of the TV series "Hart to Hart."

Umm...they did. He also co-wrote TMWTGG with Richard Maibaum and did uncredited rewrite work on MR.

Was watching the special features on my CR dvd the other night.
Always amuses me that when Craig found out that this site had been set up, it made him even more determined to make CR the classic and great Bond film the majority of Bond fans and the general public regard it as.
He also says he enjoyed it when CR proved to be a massive success, and proved the members of sites like this wrong.

Possibly, but as QOS's box office shows, that sort of publicity stunt only works once.

So apparently Fincher's remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is going to be a English language version of the movie filmed in...Sweden! Most of the actors will be Brits or American, although apparently Stellan Skarsgard has signed on.


This isn't anything new;the series Wallander, which is set in Sweden, and stars a British actor(Kenneth Branagh) with a British cast(and a few Swedes thrown in) is set in Sweden; to hear actors with British acccents is a bit jarring but(in my opinion) doesn't affect my ability to enjoy the show.

Entertainment Weekly has a feature on Bond's future and it does not look good for Cr-egg if this MGM stalemate goes on much longer. They claim he is under contract for 2 more films but it might now be 2-3 years to release the next film even if the sale went through soon. The article lists Jackman as a potential Bond replacement.

These are dark days for James Bond fans. It will likely be years before 007 returns to the screen, thanks to money troubles at MGM, Bond’s longtime studio, which has been up for sale since November. Even Daniel Craig seems to have moved on, signing up for the lead in a different potential franchise, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The last time the Bond series was put on this sort of “indefinite” hold was back in the early 1990s, after a series of legal battles (and Timothy Dalton) nearly wrecked the series. It took six years to get it up and running again. And in Hollywood today, six years is an eternity. “No franchise can afford to be away from screens for that long anymore,” says a former MGM exec. “You lose too much momentum. Even for Bond, it could be deadly.” Of course, Bond has defied death before — just ask Blofeld — so we’re not counting him out just yet. One possibility: “[MGM] should sell the Bond franchise for a billion dollars to some sovereign company in Abu Dhabi and promise to make Bond movies in Abu Dhabi from now on,” suggest one financial analyst familiar with the MGM sale. The name is Bond, Jamal Bond. We could live with that.

As sources go, EW is not exactly up there with the International Herald Tribune. Plus, that statement about six years being an eternity is total bollocks. I just saw Toy Story 3 last night, which was a hit despite the last film in the franchise being 11 years ago.

Well.... To play devils advocate if Iron Man 3 were delayed indefinitely say 6 year it would be a problem. The Batman sequel to Dark Knight is a 4 year absence, not the same thing since Christopher Nolan has all the room he want or could need to develop it and the audience will wait. Bond will continue but the actor will more likely than not change. Than again Batman Begins set out with a 31 year old star, who will not but pushing 40 until 2014.

Oh come on katie, Sir Rog was always lured back to play Bond with a big fat pay cheque after MR. Even if he did look a little long in the tooth at times.
He was always a great Bond in my mind.
Though tubby Connery and DAF, and battered Brozza in DAD, well they were showing their age, in their final Bond appearances as well.
Nice to have a Bond actor who's in his 40's in the role.

If Babs has any good sense she will recast Craig if the hiatus goes on too long. Another Roger Moore situation(as good as most of his Bond films are), with Craig having to limp through the movies because he's out of shape-from not having done a Bond film for several years- does him no favors.

Craig is not Bond so why bother keeping him and prolong this farce? Sookie Stackouse is part fairy I see. True Blood has gone off the rails now with there storylines . This Twilight saga seems tedious as well . Potter arrives in 3 months. Now THAT"S entertainment.

There's a fine line between fans being hopeful about Craig coming back(if the hiatus doesn't last long) and insanity( insisting that Craig play Bond again,even if there is a long wait..with him aging as badly as he has,is that REALLY a good idea?)Seems to me that there are a number of fans who have a weird Scashy-like attachment to Craig and think he should play Craig, no matter how aged and out of shape he is. Maybe that will change if the hiatus goes for a long time. I don't know.
