This MGM mess is no joke for the franchise and other films. Broccoli might decide to walk away BUT this franchise is her ONLY entry into show business so giving it up would relegate her to non-essential Hollywood status. After all, aside from her father's treasure, who the hell is she any way?

Not their only entry. Not any more. Babs was happy producing theater years before she decided Bond had to change, probably daddy's money opened the doors for this as well. They have 4 other movie projects they were suppsoed to be developing /working on since 2008. 2 for Sony and I think there was 2 others they bought up the options for.

I'm more excited about the Hobbit as well. I really enjoyed the LOTR movies-even though they're long, they're rewatchable.

I also just didn't by Vesper was his first "real" love. I had more romance in my first semester away from home. He is former military right? did he get no shore leave whatsoever? Were there no fetching young ladies in uniform to turn his head........ Just struck me if the gay angle were added it would make more sense. He was Navy right? Then maybe Vesper would be his first female love.

He was a little old for his first serious relationship, perhaps, but I don't regard student fumblings as "real love".

That is what I was saying. The CR "romance" wasn't up to freshmen co-ed standards. Forget about first "Real" love.

It has been a couple of months since EON Productions officially announced that work on the 23rd James Bond film had been put on hold.

The financial woes of MGM have damaged every active project at the studio, so news that 007 was on hiatus too was not a surprise to industry watchers.

"Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on 'Bond 23' indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of 'Bond 23,'" stated Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli jointly.

However, it wasn't until UK rag The Daily Mirror stepped in with an anonymous quote that the mass media got in a tizz about the future of 007 and Daniel Craig's tenure in the role. This week, the paper claimed: "Members of the production crew have been told the Bond film has been canned."

James Bond is dead? No. Tabloid sensationalism? You bet.

Gossip Cop - a site that specializes in shooting down false media rumours - got a quote from a source close to Craig on the current "Bond axed" controversy. They said, "The situation remains exactly the same as for the last many months. The filmmakers formally announced then that the current production of Bond 23 was being postponed due to the issues relating to the sale of MGM. Nothing has changed and production is only postponed, not canceled.”

"James Bond is dead?" Yes. A half salvage oaf is using his name.
"Tabloid sensationalism? You bet." Sensationalism. Nah. Not this time. What is a issue is the Bond franchise is once again not handling the news coming out and is scrambling to react. This kind of slip, no matter how trivial puts them under the gun and not MGM. MGMs position is bolstered and theirs is weakened. Don't discount the possibility of Hollywood politics playing a part in this. If the Brocs did indeed proposition WB, MGM could be getting back a little. This isn't just a studio they are favoring with their business it is a partner that owns half of this franchise.

The only difference in the terminology is the wording of Postpone or Cancel which is moot since the result is the same.

I don't get the appeal of Twilight and I don't get the women my age(I'm almost 40) and older having a crush on Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.It's just creepy.

BJ and I watched Twilight on Showtime and we cannot figure out the appeal of this to the public. The acting is mediocre at best. What do you think of Kristen Stewart? Showtime/The Movie Channel is constantly showing her film Adventureland from 2009. The film is pointless, yet probably due to Twilight, they keep airing it.

Kristen Stewart....saw her Jimmy Kimmel who didn't let her get a word in for a second of the interview ... Zu Zu I go along with you ....schlock.... schlock I say...........Does any one really have an idea if DC is going to be replaced yet ??? or what the circumstances are for the Bond franchise??... this talk of Hobbit, Twilight, Potter...... etc ,etc, etc, is making me ill.......and sounds like 12 year old kids yapping away about pre teen stuff... oh by the way has any one seen Dispicable Me?? with Steve Carrell ???

I want to see Despicable Me; Inception too(but I'd like to see it in IMAX-I might have to wait a few weeks since we're going to have family in town next week).The only IMAX theater is 25-35 minutes away but it's worth the drive.


The other week Dr. Phil had a show on girls who love too much and love the wrong kind of boys..something to that effect. Whadya wanna bet some of that is Twilight-related?


Kristen Stewart was supposed to be the best thing about that Runaways movie, but it sunk like a stone. Everything she did before Twilight in on cable all the time now.She's almost as overhyped as Michael Fassbender.

The stars of "Twilight" have landed a bloody huge pay check for the final two movies in the teen vampire series.

According to New York magazine, Summit will pay Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner an unprecedented $25 million each against 7.5 per cent of the theatrical gross for starring in parts one and two of "Breaking Dawn."

Though "Eclipse" is on its way to making more than "New Moon's" box office haul of $710 million, if "Breaking Dawn" earned as much as "New Moon," 7.5 per cent of that would mean the stars could add another $16 million to their salary for a total of $41 million.

According to box office guru Paul Dergarabedian of Hollywood.com, the Twi-stars have landed in Will Smith territory.

"A $20 million pay day was typically reserved for A-list stars back in hey day of big salaries," he told the Daily News. "This proves the point that [these days] the star doesn't make the box office, the box office makes the star."

Though RPattz, TayTay and KStew are not thought of as A-listers, Dergarabedian says the last three "Twilight" movies have made around $1.5 billion globally.

"Their box office is huge and they are essential to the success of these films," he says.

And the success continues. "Twilight: Eclipse" took in an impressive $82.5 million during the Fourth of July weekend, raising its total box office haul to $175.3 million in just six days.

The third film in the "Twilight" series earned the second biggest opening day ever on Wednesday when it earned $68.5 million.

Sing me up too. This is her version of Bond. The other movie I want to see is Inception which is Nolans take on Bond. Bond is dominating the Movie place just not with the franchise which make us to conclude the franchise may not be entirely necessary. I mean people are out there making movies, making it happen the Bond producer sit around making a lot of noise then release a half thought out movie as a finished product.

Bond is stuck in limbo, MGM when does get funding it isn't going to fast track Bond 23, not for $300m. Especially out of a rumored $500m operating budget for the year. MGM has a lot of dead wood to cut, good news is the investor who want to take over are interested in establishing a healthy studio for the long term. Probably entails postponing Bond a little longer but in the long run the studios support should be assured. If it stops Craig's runaway revisionism and attempts to make meaningful (read meaningless) art-house Bonds then this delay is directly from the Gods.
