Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
as I noted other franchises / films may be his cup of "tea" and he may portray characters to the public likening.. Connery did not to my recall make other films while under contract to do the Bond series.. Brosnon did other films after his tenure... a good one was the remake of the Steve Mcqueen movie with that Russo girl The Thomas Crown Affair and another new one (2nd) will be out later.
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I had heard that Fincher had gotten Carey Mulligan from An Education to play Lisbeth Salander.Good choice. But Craig is the wrong choice for Blomkvist.Hopefully Fincher will realize that. To say nothing of putting him in all 3 movies. Su.i.cide.Harvey danish wrote:Like James Bond swiftly stealing a woman from her spouse, Daniel Craig has reportedly snagged the number one contender spot to star in the Hollywood adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," according to TheWrap.com.
The film, based on the first novel in the Millennium trilogy by the late Swedish author Stieg Larsson, is a crime thriller about a journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, searching for a missing girl with the aid of dragon-tatooed hacker Lisbeth Salander.
Adaptations of the three novels, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest," have already been made in Larsson's native Sweden, starring Michael Nyqvist as Blomkvist. "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" has circulated around the indie circuit for some time in the States.
Brad Pitt was initially reported by various sources to be the top candidate for the Blomkvist role in the English adaptation, which IMDB reports is slated for release in 2012. But according to TheWrap.com, "Dragon" director David Fincher ("Fight Club") is more partial to casting the erstwhile 007 as his lead.
Fincher is slated to direct all three adaptations of the trilogy, and he and Craig are reportedly taking a meeting in Los Angeles within the next few days.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I agree DC is the wrong choice for several of his "other than and including Bond" films.. of course by now most of you know my stand on DC as Bond....... but does he fit in on any film ?? Should slack be cut on him and other work besides Bond be recognized ??? Laura Croft had him as her opposite and nothing more was ever said, it was when recognition and notority for Bond - a - sun role materialized did people start to critique his every move, looks etc. I ask you all is there a place for the man in the film industry or should he be a shoe salesman ??? BJMDDS you seem to be esteamed, a smart reasonable insighted chap and this being your thread please weigh in on this if you will........

Pass out the pastries Harvey as soon as Cr-egg lands the role of Renfield in the next Dracula remake, whenever that will be, if it ever will. Aside from that role, he belongs in offbeat roles that require a glum
, unhappy
, wretch of a man
actor, and in that capacity, DC would shine. Other than that, stick the fork in him.....for he is done.....

Be it Tin Tin, or this trilogy you mention, I do not see the USA public gravitating to these films at all and I am sure they won't be cheap to make. Why bother, especially with CR-egg in it?katied wrote:I had heard that Fincher had gotten Carey Mulligan from An Education to play Lisbeth Salander.Good choice. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
It's going to lose something when they Americanize it. The books and films, set in Sweden, are very Swedish, in terms of the setting, and the names of the characters, who in the U.S. version will get generic sounding American names like "Smith". I'll pass, thanks.

LOL there's a backlash towards the Karate Kid remake and it isn't even out yet. Why mess with a perfect movie, that's what I say.

Just a case of Hollywood still being clueless to originality. You of all people Stocks should be interested in movies and their reactions. After all, weren't you a film studies major in college? If so, where is the directorial originality in Hollywood? Oz prequel? Ocean's 33?

The Karate Kid movies sucked, I could care less for the remake.bjmdds wrote:Just a case of Hollywood still being clueless to originality. You of all people Stocks should be interested in movies and their reactions.

I'm aware of an Oz film in the works, it's not a prequel though. In fact I actually support it, it's about time we get a more faithful adaption. I'm a big fan of Return to Oz and it's a shame that got panned purely on the grounds that it wasn't a technicolor romp with musical numbers and an incompetent Judy Garland. After all, weren't you a film studies major in college? In the time that has passed from the dawn / birth of film we have been treated to story by lines that have been either imagined or taken from real time........ It seems there is nothing new except the actors and twisting of story lines that has been presented to us the general public and with no "new" plots or stories being farmed out to the big screen we must endure remakes, retakes redo's, reruns.....of all movies of the past that those puppet masters deem would be big block buster hits......in the wise words of Ford Fairlane....... This makes me want to vomit Day Glow..
