With Spiderman 4's projected budget to be only $80 million after Avatar's success, what is Sony thinking and how much will Eon scale down for Craig's next and hopefully final egg? Eon is trying to pass off Craig as Bond just as Oh-bama will attempt to pass himself off as a moderate fiscal politician tomorrow night. Both are futile attempts. The longer this goes on with Craig in the picture, the more damage it will cause to the franchise and the public might chuck the entire saga until Craig and Broccoli are history.

That is just terrible.
Why would he do that? And with the photos to prove it aswell.
Thank the maker that Pierce was on board to ham it up for the cameras.

I don't think so. The public are used to Craig as Bond now, and judging by the BO takings of CR and QoS, I doubt Bond 23 will be a failure at the BO either.

I disagree. The people have soured with him and are disillusioned with his product as Bond. One more to go Sweeney, then we put this all to rest.

Where do you get the impression people have soured with him? From the negative reviews of QoS?

The overall take on the film and the major let down from CR by those who enjoyed CR. I talk to a lot of people who think his films have not gone anywhere and he is not a draw at all. Trust me, he is done as Bond in terms of enthusiastic support.

That's not enough to call an end to his Bond career. Brosnan didn't get good reviews either, and I spoke to a lot of people at the time who hated Brozza's Bond movies, yet this did not stop EON picking him for 4 movies.

The BO takings of CR and QoS have ensured another Bond film with Craig. I seriously doubt the BO takings will be worse than QoS. The worldwide beast that is the Bond franchise says so. You thought Craig would be finished after 1 movie, now here we are discussing his 3rd Bond movie. I am pretty sure after 3 he won't be finished.

I predict 4 Bond films definitely with Craig - a 5th also possible.

I'm not so sure. The reception QOS got could hurt Bond 23's box office. If it does, whoever buys MGM will probably insist on some changes, which may well include recasting the role of Bond. That doesn't necessarily mean "Craig is a failure and they'll want to get rid of him" so much as "We need a clear signal that the series is moving in a new direction, and what more visible symbol of that could there be than a new Bond?" Which is pretty much what led to Craig's casting in the first place. He who lives by the sword....

That's assuming Craig even wants to do another one after this. He has been so unenthusiastic about Bond that I think he'll bolt as soon as he is allowed.

Imagine if Brosnan had started being Bond in 1981 in FYEO when he was 28? We could have legitimately had him for over 20 years as Bond and were it not for Remington Steele, it might have happened. He truly loved the role I believe. Craig pushes it aside. By the way, the next 2 HP films will follow Avatar and be in 3-D. Need I say more that Eon will again MIMIC that? Imagine seeing Craig in 3-D? 2-D is bad enough.

The 2 part HP 7 is going to rule both 2010 and 2011, but I might be wrong.

Brosnan bashing is strictly not allowed, and anyone who dare to do so, is totally demented.......but Craig bashing is allowed, and people who do that are not dememented.

Hmmmmm....no double standards whatsoever there then.

I just think the Bond franchise is too big to dwindle that much after 1 movie. The general movie audience have short memories too. DAD was an absolute shocker, yet look how much CR raked in on the back of it - AND without Pierce Brosnan at the helm.

And look at the opening weekends of QoS worldwide when that came out.

Another year will have passed before the next Bond film is released. It's the standard flick for people to go and see at the cinema - the new Bond film. It is future proof for at least another 2 shockers, before audience figures would dwindle noticeably worldwide. That's the luxury of such a strong global franchise. Bond sells.

Double standards form the guy who openly wept in the theaters when he saw Bourne, sobbing and saying this is what Bond should be.This guy who admits he hates over half of the bond movies and still considers himself a fan of the movies. No not a fan,an authority so that he can tell the rest of us to get our "mind right" about Craig

I'm not a huge fan of the movies, never have and never will be. There is only a few that I like, so get your facts right, sonny. I'm a huge fan of the Bond novels though.

And no, I accept people don't like Craig as Bond....but it sounds like you have a hard time accepting people who DO like Craig as Bond.

Please correct me if I'm wrong....

Avatar did beat it and we must congratulate Cameron for his success. However Avatar has sold far fewer tickets than Titanic, I think in the US it was 120m for Titanic and somewhere about 60 to 70m for Avatar so far.

It's very good. FBF was asking (some pages back) about the sales in comparison to other reboots like BB and CR. I had looked up the BB sales and gave him the numbers, now that Star Trek has 6m it is doing what he had hoped it might.
