bjmdds wrote:Will Potter 6 top QOS in the UK? I think so. What do the UK'ers think? Also, IMDB is rumoring Bond 23 will be released in 2011 with someone named Sheen playing Blofeld. How original for Craig's vision? Also, The Invasion, Flashbacks of A Fool and Defiance COMBINED grossed $87 million WORLDWIDE with Craig as a post Bond entity. QOS underperformed in box office and critical acclaim as well. What does Broccoli do? She brings Craighead to Broadway to try to bolster his image by pairing him up with a world class act and the man who should be Bond, Jackman. Absolute lunacy
Question time:
1) How did Brozza's other non-Bond films do while he was playing Bond?
2) How do Brozza's Bond films compare to QoS with the critical acclaim they received, and how they performed at the BO?
Sorry I missed the Harry Potter discussion. I wanted to point out that Harry Potter beat the 46 year 22 movie James Bond franchise with 6 movies in 8 years.

And when all is said and done, years from now, the Harry Potter franchise will be remembered fondly. The Bond films, not so much.
They need to de-Pascal Bond films, send MGW to play somewhere in Europe, and have Broccoli drink Jackman love potions on Broadway and THEN we will have Bond back. The end of Craighead's 2 films still says, JAMES BOND WILL RETURN. It should also say AS SOON AS DANIEL CRAIG VACATES THE ROLE.

LOL get rid of both of the Dastardly Duo(both Babs and Mike.. having them running EON is doing the Bond franchise no favors. )

Craig is Bond. This is the Craig Bond era. Right now all you haters are stuck with it, right in the middle of it. This is no passing fad.
Another 2 Bond films under his belt, and Craig's era will be every much part of the franchise as the Moore era or Brozza era.
You all hoped CR would be a one-off, OHMSS style, which will be quickly forgotten and dismissed. Unfortunately you were wrong. The Craig era is here to stay, and we are only just half way through.
You guys will have another few looooong years to wait before another era starts.
Sorry if I am stating the obvious here, but reading this thread, I get the impression some of you are stuck in a time warp, where we are back in 2005 and the jury is stil out on Craig. That time has passed, and Craig passed with flying colours to a worldwide audience. We are now in 2009, with 2 Bond films already under Craig's belt, and a third one about to begin soon.

I remember those days vividly. Craig wasn't gonna top or be near any of Brosnan's films. He'd only be a one-off, or a two-time Dalton revisited at best. EON has a major turkey in their hands! CNN is covering on how no one likes Craig (CraigNotBond even gets mentioned!). All major magazine/internet polls either say Pierce Brosnan should have stayed or Clive Owen should have been the new Bond, with Craig at the bottom of the polls. Sony is gonna step in on EON and fire Craig and rehire Pierce Brosnan just like Sean Connery!

I think he is going to make five or six as Barbara adores him and he has nothing else to do. I was very surprised that Casino Royale was a critical hit; I was even more surprised at the abuse that was heaped upon Quantum of Solace which killed off the rebooted formula. God only knows what they will come up with in Bond 23.
Craig is a part of the Bond world now with the five real "classic Bonds". I only have to browse through a new James Bond book to see that as they now include numerous ridiculous piccies of Daniel Craig.
Are you suggesting that Dalton is not a real part of Bond as he only made two?
carl stromberg wrote:Are you suggesting that Dalton is not a real part of Bond as he only made two?
I think he's speaking of public recognition. Connery, Moore and Brosnan are the most recognized Bond actors of the series, while Lazenby and Dalton never generated such popularity nor are their films well regarded or recognized given their low number of films, hence why urban legends such as "OHMSS was the biggest flop/disaster for Bond" and "Timothy Dalton killed the Bond films for six years before Pierce Brosnan revived it" keep floating around casual Bond fans who haven't a clue to the history behind the films.
Had they done more films, who knows, maybe they might have gotten more respect by the public, but we'll never know. Craig seems is well on his way to be up in league with Connery, Moore and Brosnan, once he's done about four or more his stamp on Bond will be solidified as much as those three.

Unadjusted grosses? Sure. Adjusted? Not a chance.
I was just about to point this out. Thunderball adjusted alone would keep Potter at bay. Perhaps they should compare total ticket sales series to series instead.
I think people are surprised by the phenomenon HP films have become and yes the producers have kept the quality and managed to keep to a schedule. In this regard Eon has retarded themselves. They are making movies like they are stuck in the 1970's they are every far behind modern innovative methods.
Bottom line is HP is done in 2 more movies and Bond will be around in some form or another, Eon and possibly non-Eon, for years to come.

Four more! You're dreaming mate! He'll be luck to have production beginning on Bond 23 at this rate. MGM will luck to be solvent next year. Especially if the rights to the Hobbit are revoke as Tolken's heir wish. They don't actually want to stop the hobbit but they need it a leverage to fight WB/New Line who is trying to screw them with The Producers like accounting.
Connery, Moore and Brosnan are better recognized because they are more popular! To this day their dvds out sell Lazenby/Dalton movies
