I believe most of the actors in the Star Trek movie are in their 20's/early -mid 30's (Simon Pegg is 39 but could pass for 34 ) and Eric Bana is in his late 30's or early 40's. They're very well cast.

Simon Pegg does look younger than in his 40s. Poor Daniel looked in his 40s by this late 20s.

Cavill was mentioned as a potential future Bond down the road or as a true prequel Bond, not as a current, distinguished, experienced Bond. By the way, what's the deal with James "SIBERIUS" Kirk in this new film?

This new Star Trek movie looks like CW material. This is the worst thing to happen to a franchise since Roger Moore to James Bond.

J. got it right vs. Campbell and Broccoli's lame attempt at their so-called 8 minute bathroom prequel segment. By the way, CRAIG was the worst thing to ever happen to the Bond franchise. Do you think he could be tolerated for 7 films over 12 years?

Judging by the overwhelming critical and commercial success of CR, and the subsequent knock-on effect with the opening weekends worldwide of QoS, I'd say Campbell and Broccoli got it spot on with everything to do with CR, including the casting. Facts, BJ, just the facts. Spin it any way you want to, but CR was a success.

QoS however is a different matter entirely.....

So you think Star Trek should have always been like that? Christ. As a lontime Trek fan, I'll tell ya, this is the wrong direction for Star Trek.

I don't think I could tolerate ANY actor for that long . Five films for me is the limit.

I haven't seen the new film so have no idea if it is generic or not but you could say they cast the young Shatner in the sixties because he was a pretty-boy. They didn't give him the part for his acting surely.

The young Kirk casting makes sense as he is supposed to be a younger version of the mid-60's William Shatner. I thought we were going to get a "young Sean Connery" for Casino Royale. It can easily be argued that Bond got his 00 licence in his mid-20's and would have been handsome; Fleming said he was still handsome when he had aged a bit and some of his tough adventures and unhealthy lifestyle choices had taken their toll, so he was probably a "pretty boy" when he was younger. Instead we had some 40 year old short odd-looking chap who looks 50 (and about 20 years older than Connery and Lazenby in their first Bond films) as a young Bond (although as The Sweeney said, the public liked it). The Star Trek young Kirk should be more convincing. Or maybe he will be awful as I have yet to see the film!
