One of the things I enjoyed the most about the ultimate editions was the footage from screentests. I would love to see more of all the screentests they've done over the years.

It would be good to see them. Imagine a scenario where the fans get to see the screentests before the actor is chosen and then get to decide who they want as Bond via a poll.

Nah, I think that's a terrible idea. We already have enough interference in the creative process thanks to these test preview screenings where audiences get to tell writers and directors how to make movies. How many movies get butchered because of these and then have to be released in a director's cut (if you're lucky), which is always an improvement over the theatrical release? Makers of commercial studio films have to be responsive to audience wishes, but they shouldn't be slaves to them.

I take your point on board, but I do disagree. If you take computer games for example they are pre-released on the net before completion so that fans are able to assess the characters and gameplay. Dependant upon the popularity of the choices made depends on what game is released.

If screentests were shown and fans able to vote, it may help with the selection process based on popularity.

Don't agree with you there. And even if I did, that is a slightly different case, as the original film was not changed due to studio interference following test preview screenings, but Coppola's own manic perfectionism. I was thinking of things like the Avengers movie, which one movie mag suggested should be renamed When Studios Attack. Haven't seen a director's cut though, so I don't know how much of that movie's creative failure was due to the studio and how much to the filmmakers.

The Redux version is really drawn out and a poor decision to include it. I was unfortunate to buy the new version as I consider the original to be a classic and wanted to view the extra material. Wish I hadn't.

Hard to tell. I had only seen the original (or one of them - the 35mm version is different to the 70mm version) on TV many years before Redux came out and by the time I saw Redux in the cinema, I couldn't always remember what was part of AN79 and what was new.
