I said he MIGHT be replaced, and hopefully so. You NEVER know, with EON's whims. IF he stays, it'sstockslivevan wrote:If I recall correctly, Craig has the same contract that Moore, Dalton and Brosnan had. Three films with an optional fourth. Moore and Dalton fulfilled their contract by performing in four films. Dalton's expired in 1994.
Connery had a different contract apparently, no limited number of films, just an expiration date. Lazenby's was to be a seven picture contract. Since then they've stuck with the same contract that started with Moore.
There should be no doubt that Craig will return for a third picture, no matter how many times BJ insists that he'll get dumped because of either his non-Bonds not doing good or QOS making less. Moore, Dalton (until the legal dispute) and Brosnan were all going to return after their second films, all of which did not perform as well as their firsts. It shouldn't be any different with Craig.

I was reading an interview with Craig weeks ago and the journalist mentioned that he looked bored and weary when Bond was mentioned and didn't want to talk about it at all. Sure, he's probably 'Bonded' out at the moment after promoting QoS and had a new film to promote (Defiance) but I honestly can't see him sticking around for very long.

I think you hit the nail on the head, that he is `Bonded' out. I'm sure any sane actor would be after answering the same questions over and over again, even when you are not promoting that film. I think Connery went through the same bored thing with Bond too, even in the early days.John Drake wrote:I was reading an interview with Craig weeks ago and the journalist mentioned that he looked bored and weary when Bond was mentioned and didn't want to talk about it at all. I'm sure when the next big, fat paycheck gets waved in front of him for Bond 23, his eyes will light back up again.....

I don't think it's just that he's "Bonded out" but that he's promoted QOS for a year and wants to move on from that, hence his enthusiasm for moving onto Bond 23 with a clean slate after QOS tied loose ends with the Vesper arc.The Sweeney wrote:I think you hit the nail on the head, that he is `Bonded' out. Why do actors get so tired of playing Bond? Do they want people to think of them as more than just a Bond actor?John Drake wrote: Sure, he's probably 'Bonded' out at the moment after promoting QoS and had a new film to promote (Defiance) but I honestly can't see him sticking around for very long.

I think you just answered your own question. Actors never get into business just to play Bond.LilleOSC wrote: Why do actors get so tired of playing Bond? Do they want people to think of them as more than just a Bond actor?

When an actor is hired to play Bond, you get the good and the bad of playing bond(the bad being that you'll always be associated with the role). It's understandable that Craig would get tired of promoting QOS but it *is* part of the job.

Defiance has dropped 50% of it's theatres already, down to around 800. Another Craig film, and this was hyped, that did NOT deliver, ANYWHERE. Still believe this guy has 'it' ?

Released just before New Year's in the USA on limited release, then advertised a LOT on television, with Craig appearing on several talk shows TRYING to promote it. Are you kidding me or in denial they TRIED everything to connect with an audience?

What proof is that? It's a practice done for every film that is coming to release.bjmdds wrote:Released just before New Year's in the USA on limited release, then advertised a LOT on television, with Craig appearing on several talk shows TRYING to promote it. Craig is NOT sent galavanting around as the lead promotion tool on the films he is in, is he? They tried their best, on the Today Show, etc., but alas, another turkey. Gobble, gobble.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I am NOT a big fan of Brosnan films outside of Bond;however, he has been more successful than Craig has been and Craig, from his MTV appearance 2 years ago at their awards show, has failed to deliver the box office punch that many thought he could, correct? You would think that THE BEST ACTOR EVER TO PLAY BOND would do A LOT better after the CR buzz, but time and time again, flop city. If Craig was in Mamma Mia, it might have grossed half as much worldwide, who knows?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Perhaps, but in the end Craig is more of a popular Bond than a popular actor, much like his predecessors were other than Connery. But as Kris said, Craig isn't the sort that's concerned about box office grossing.
