Can Daniel Craig win you over.....

Post by carl stromberg »

There are many bitter anti-Daniel Craig As Bond people around: I am one of them

But as Skywalker said on the Casino Royale Review thread:
I'd like to think this site is constructive in its opinion to change/modify Bond 22/23 to be more akin to the Bond we love.

What can Daniel Craig do to win you over and make you enjoy his next Bond adventures?

I'm not sure he can "do" anything, I just live in hope that come Bond 22, I'll be more used to him and won't have to make the stupendous mental effort to think of him as Bond that CR required.

 I had to try and convince myself throughout my first viewing. It seems to get harder each time you watch it.

Um, I would be happier with a more classical Bond. Happier, not happy. I am not happy with Craig and dont see that changing.

Like a lot of others i look forward to his leaving the role. With another actor in the role, even an unknown that looks the role, Lazenby or his modern day equivalent would be a step in the right direction.

Breaks my heart because a reboot with the right young actor would have been exciting. I would have liked a story that actual followed a "Bond becoming Bond".
How about a young actor starting off as bond doing desk work then working up to 00. Remember in the movies where M offers to demote Bond back to the section he came from. Memory fails here, did this happen in the Books?
A Young Bond 28/30 years old. restless at his desk, jumping at the chance for field work and looking like Bond should look a few times before he gets promoted to 00. The style and class, education would be there, the seasoned agent would start to become evident.
Bond was good to start with and got better. Craig didn't show that, he was incompetent and ignorant of his job. Bond always had an idea of professionalism, it would have been nice to see him hone his skills to live up to his own expectations.

One of the things I can't accept about Craig at this point is the idea that his Bond is an old Etonian. I know Craig's done a lot of classical work on stage, but Connery, with or without a lot of help from Terrance Young, was much more convincing in this regard.

So was Roger, Dalton, Lazanby and Brosnan.

Craig would have to have plastic surgery, and dye his hair to convince me that he was Bond, for starts. then, he would have to display some charm and sophistication that was absent in Casino Royale. and he'd have to fall for a hotter girl than Eva Green.

Just think. You have no idea how long Craig will stay as Bond, and no way to do anything about it. Those sort of comments make you sound like a twelve year old buddy.

YES DC can do it. –it's the producers and writers who need to go! This reboot crap complicates it. DC needs a good story and a decent chance.

Well I can't see a day when the Broccolis give up the Bond franchise...at least no time soon. The reboot has been given far more c r a p than it deserves. It was a bold decision to go away from the formula Bond, a formula that was over 40 years old (and showing it's age along time ago) and with the success of CR it's been proven that it can be done. So much has been made of continuity aswell, when there is no real continuity in the films. I'm still wondering what the real problem many have with this new direction?
Let's keep our fingers crossed, you may not have like Bond 21, but maybe you'll be more willing to give OO7 a go in Bond 22.

When they talked about a young actor and making Casino Royale unlike any Bond film I was really excited. In the end CR wasn't unlike any Bond film. It was a bit like a Brosnan Bond film with less action and a more pretentious 'worthy' script. I'd love to see a Bond film that didn't involve Broccoli, Wilson, Arnold, Dench, Purvis & Wade, Campbell and Eon altogether because I'm bored with them all and their creative input.

Well, you'd better hope Kevin McClory wins his court case then. Oh, wait....

Less likely to plonk down the fee for B22. -unless it looks to be a better effort. CR has enough wrong with it to make B22 uninviting. -to me-
DC is contorting to play, jon mcclain, man of action not JB -He needs a good script with out the cheesy love theme –including runing after vespers killers.
I'll pass if B22 has the same attitude & approach to JB. If it becomes more Bond :) and less bourn :? I'm more willing to go.

The reboot got the right amount of crap – obviously copying other action movies and themes. taking a piss on the last 40 years pisses fasn off.
If there is no continuity -lose at the best times- then just tell the d**n story with out the restart pretence. Unless remaking the movies is the ultimat goal it all is going nowhere

Still lets keep the finger crossed -untill it happens. :)
