TBMQOS has dipped to box office poverty level numbers now in the USA with a paltry $81,000 taken in yesterday in an empty 891 theatres. We can now see the final returns were NOT what Eon wanted, nor expected. TBM did significantly less internationally than CR did, not even factoring in inflation prices of tickets and it will not surpass CR in the USA, factoring in inflation prices of tickets. The USA take does surprise me, especially after a $67.5 million opening weekend, but the SWIFT drop off has probably put this rubbish into the history books as having the biggest opening in the USA and not pass the $200 million mark, and no where near the Bourne Ultimatum's numbers in the USA as well. One less film Craig/Eon/Haggis can ruin before salvation sets in.

And yet, it did successful enough to insure another Bond entry for Craig.

Two years ago Superman Returns, with a budget of 200 million, made only $391 million worldwide, yet it was labeled a success, although a very modest one. WB still expressed disappointment that it hadn't made something like over $500, which is what they were hoping for.

So since QOS has made over $500 million, surely, that should be considered a success. Should it not? It's no CR numbers, but it's adequate enough to ensure the series future. All EON has to do is be careful of not spending too much money next time.
Singer ruined SR big time. Routh was a C rated clown actor from the soap opera One Life To Live, and was fired from it. He was tending bar when Singer found him. Larry King interviewed him and Singer before SR opened and predicted Routh would be a huge star now. He could walk down a street and no one would even know who he is. The film's storyline is terrible, the child equation is moronic, and the film lost plenty of money. Singer is as clueless about Superman as Craig/Haggis are about Bond. Both should be shown the door and kept away from any future plans.

I love the way you pro-Craig idolics say the film was successful "enough" to insure Craig's future. Brosnan broke the bank for Eon in 2002 and was booted out for it! Do not assume Eon is logical. They are first and foremost in the business to earn profits. The bean counters will paint a poor reflection of Craig II vs. Craig I and decisions will be made. Remember, Bonds 2 and 4 lasted only 3 films total.......Craig is Bond(?) 6.......the odds may win out and the 'evens' fall by the wayside......let's hope so...Bonds 1,3, and 5 lasted.....2,4,and 6 were shortlived........history may very well repeat itself......

That I do not remember saying. If I did, I would like to see it, for Routh was, is, and always will be a horrible choice in any film. He just cannot act. Smallville's actor would have been better.

Well it is.

If I recall correctly, it was Brosnan himself who quit, no Bond actor has EVER been fired. Every actor left after their contracts expired. The problem for Brosnan was that saying he's quitting was merely a strategy to have EON beg him back with a bigger paycheck, yet he lost the gamble.

Bond was Brosnan's claim to fame, his bread and butter, his crowning achievement. NO WAY he quit. Do not believe that. He tried to increase his $16.5 million take on DAD's success and they were offended by that. He was wrong to do it. Eon said money was not the issue. If they really wanted him, they would have worked it out. If Broccolli did not fancy Craig, he might have done 2 more.

SR topped $200 million in the USA. CR and QOS never came close. Routh is a horrible actor and in the thread you highlighted you forgot to mention the first half of it, where I stated Routh, as bad as he is, would be more popular than Craig. In the USA, the box office office receipts proved that. SR under performed internationally, that was it's demise. Routh had limited appeal there.

Growing up as a child and teenager the Bond franchise was a huge part of my movie entertainment. That is why I am so passionate about it's solvency;however, the ONE entertainment entity that supercedes all others is the king of rock and roll, the one and only ELVIS(and not the Lurch looking henchman in TBM). He would have been 74 this Thursday, the 8th of January. A little tribute is in order. Enjoy, as I do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My5ub7qV2EM

Okay BJ, you win. No one likes Craig as Bond. Those who like him a very small vocal minority. Everyone that praised him and his films were paid off by EON. Why do I say this? Because I realize there is no way anyone would like Craig as Bond and if anyone does then they are not true James Bond fans. The two films never made over a billion dollars, in fact they made only a 100 million together. EON pays off all the box office sites in order to fool people into thinking Craig is a popular Bond, even though no one buys it. Bond has always been about gadgets. Q and Moneypenny are the reasons why everyone goes to see a Bond film, not the Bond character himself. Pierce Brosnan is the greatest Bond ever. Craig should die in a horrible fire because I have an unusual hatred towards him on a personal level. Blah Blah Blah.

You should NEVER wish anyone that Stocks. I am surprised at you. Connery was the best Bond, not Brosnan. Plenty blasted his film negatively this time, that IS true. Craig is not James Bond. Eon is trying to recreate James Bond into a 21st century Bourne-Bauer morph. Eon does pay off to spin Craig, I agree. Gadgets, Q, and Moneypenny are ALL things your man Craig wants in Bond 23, IF he stays on, so even HE has seen the light. Unfortunately for him, it won't mesh with his deranged Bond mystique.

These forums are internet cable shows in a way. They have their niches, they have their readers, they have their writers. All in all, we try to be entertaining to the audiences who visit, just like the cable tv news channels.

Looks like Craig is more popular than Brozza. Who would have thought it.....
So you disagree with bjmdds' numbers that QOS is losing EON money?
There's two different points being made here. The profit margins BJ has been outlining may or may not be correct. Maybe Sony spent too much on QoS, maybe they'll struggle to make a profit because of this, and maybe some of it is down to the current recession we are in now. No way would Sony spend this much money had QoS been filmed today, due to the global financial climate.

But the point I'm making is to do with BO figures alone, and comparing it with Brosnan's BO figures. Do you disagree that Craig is not as popular than Brosnan at the BO?
