Boxofficemojo survey of this weekends movies to see: TDTESS= 57.5%..........QOS= 2.5%....... Under $3 million this weekend? What is the chance that Christmas week into New Year's will give TBM a 'dead cat's bounce' at the box office, like CR did?

QOS is still playing several times a day here-only one movie theater has 2 showings a day-it seems to vary from 4 to 8 showings a day(of of the upsides of it being shorter than CR )

Saw it again, this time with my mother. Her comments? Not better than CR, but Craig is still a fabulous Bond and that Mathieu Amalric made a very good villain. Overall, she thought it was very good, said she rates it a 9/10, a point higher than mine. :) And this is the same woman who was as a self proclaimed "Anti-Blond Bond" before seeing CR.

Glad to hear you and your mom enjoyed QOS.I can't say I completely agree about Amalric. He was a bit ineffectual ,IMO.

Someone has to be mentally challenged to give Quark 9 out of 10 ;)
Since its your mum lets say she loves her son and has a very liberal 10 scale. Be sure to get her something nice for Christmas  .

Since you brought it up with anecdotal evidence I just add that I know people who didn't and don't hate Craig but cannot stand his Bond.

3m might be lucky at that. Day the Earth Stood still is being ramped up and may finish off Quark the way Madagascar is finishing him off worldwide. $40.6M total in Russia vs. Quarks $18m. Wanted ($26) and Mummy 3 ($27m) preformed better in Russia.
It's now a forgone conclusion that Quark will not top CR's total.

Code: Select all

Madagascar 2 $51.4 million from 33 markets.
OPENINGS:
United Kingdom $9m vs. Quarks $25m (Quark fell 42.4% the next week)
Germany $11m vs Quarks $14 (Quark fell 45.3% the next week)
France $10m vs Quarks 11m (Quark fell 42.6% the next week)
Peru $631,118 vs Quarks $219,886 (Quark fell 68% the next week to finish 3rd, Beverly Hills Chihuahua took 1st.)
Mexico $5m vs Quarks 2m (Quark fell 59.7% the next week)

Mamma Mia will do more business internationally than QOSTBM it looks like. The UK has gone cold on QOS and in the USA it has not surpassed the $600,000 mark for 3 straight days.

I dunno, I like Pierce, but Mama Mia is NOT the sort of movie I would want to watch more than once, but I can see how it would have that appeal

Yup, because Brosnan was the big draw in that flick, it couldn't have done that well without him.

I just read that Abba are being lined up to play the villains in the next Bond film. They could hardly do any worse.

As long as you admit it did QOS did better than Mamma Mia at the US.

On the topic of musicals, I hate them. At least modern ones. Only the past flicks with Fred Astaire and the like are the ones I enjoy.
