Connery was 6 feet 1 1/2inches
I think Lazenby was 6 ft 2 inches, (6ft 2 1/2 ?)

Craig isn't, as stated on the main part of this site, short. He is taller than average. He's an inch of 6', not short by any standards.

Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore have both been listed at 6'1 although I think Moore might be a bit taller. Dalton is 6 foot. Don't know about Craig. The 5'11 looks a tad generous because he did look a bit of a shortarse in the crowd scenes in CR and he looked very small indeed acting with the 6'2 David Morrissey in a previous film.

couple of places have Dc’s bare foot height as 5’10.

A lot of compromises were made to make DC Bond height is only part of it. I would have preferred an actor who looks like Bond short or not.

Having seen Hot Fuzz the other night, I never realised how tall Dalton was until seeing him in this. For some reason I never thought him that tall in the Bond movies.

Looks like he and Lazenby werer the tallest, and Craig is the shortest, but all near the 6ft mark from either side, which was supposed to be the height of Bond from the novels.

If anything, this proves Brosnan and Craig were the closest in casting then.....

How tall did Fleming say Bond was?
I remember there was a difference from what the movies did and what he wrote.

6ft, making Craig and Brosnan the closest to it in height.

5'11"
So yes to date he is the shortest to play Bond.
But that's not something I would hold against him as being unsuitable to play Bond.

I believe that Daniel Craig is the shortest man to play Bond. I think Cubby Broccoli would have rejected him because of his height. :)

No believe about it. Daniel Craig IS the shortest man to play Bond.

Regarding your second comment, we will sadly never know......but Cubby's daughter may disagree with you on that, and I would take her word over yours any day on what her father liked/prefered.

Cubby Broccoli chose Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby, Pierce Brosnan, was obsessed with Michael Billington (Barbara's babysitter I beleive) - all tall handsome men with black hair. Barbara Broccoli on the other hand wanted Sean Bean (who I would have liked as Bond admittedly) then chose Daniel Craig, both quite short and rough looking. I thnk that their views on the ideal James Bond differed and Cubby would not have shared Barbara's ideas.

Of course Cubby reportedly offered Mel Gibson $10 million to appear in The Living Daylights.
Gibson is 5'10", 1 inch shorter than Daniel Craig.
And on the opposite scale back in the early seventies, John Gavin was signed to play Bond in Diamonds Are Forever.
Gavin measuring a massive 6'4". He would've looked rather tall next to co-star Jill St.John (5'6") nearly a foot shorter than he.
The fact of the matter is, that only fans that obsess over the height of the actor playing Bond care. The general audience couldn't care less.

Officially Craig is 5.11. However i've seen him in other films and he looks shorter, 5.10 or even 5.9. The other problem is he has a naturally small body frame. His natural body weight is probably only about 11 stone. He bulked up to the max in CR. Any bigger & he would be too rigid to throw a punch, let alone run around building sites. However unlike the taller, naturally bigger Bonds, he does'nt fill the screen or have a presence. This was illustrated when he shoke hands with Le Chiffe who towered over him. This together with his ugly looks & lack of charm makes it hard to see what a Bond babe would see in him. Any women on the site care to tell me !
