I mean i see every new Bond film when they come out, and even in the most slapstick or OTT of them,
i always find something to enjoy in the film.
It looks like I'm no longer a Bond fan then! Maybe if, one day in the future, someone makes a Bond film with James Bond in it, I'll look forward to it.

You're right Carl, you're not a Bond fan, because no true Bond fan would say such things.

I have to respond to this, since someone mentioned it.It's come up here several times that not liking a Bond film(or films) make you less of a fan. WRONG!!!There's that fanboy attitude creeping in there again.

This is the definition of the word 'fan' taken from a dictionary:-
''a person who admires or is enthusiastic about a pop star, actor, sport, or hobby''
Eh,I like the Star Wars movies, but even some of those aren't that great.Other SW fans don't look down their nose at me.
The only reason that I mention the not liking certain movies thing is because it really bothers me.The "I'm better than you because I have EVERY movie on DVD/Blu Ray/Laserdisc, have more memoribilia than you, have more than one copy of every Bond book" attitude.
Favorite Movies: Bullitt, The Long Good Friday, The Towering Inferno, Jaws, Rocky, Superman the Movie, McVicar, Goodfellas, Get Carter, Three Days of the Condor, Butch & Sundance, The Sting, All the Presidents Men

Bond fandom is not Scientology or the Moonies, where lack of unquestioning obedience (especially to demands for more money) is seen as a character weakness. Have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe, people here's lack of enthusiasm for QOS reflects their deep disappointment with CR (and, more recently, the trailer) rather than a lack of passion for Bond?

Exactly. The attitude of some Bond fans is cultish.I don't like to compare fandoms to cults, but if the label fits......

YES.............I understand the Bond fandom bit.......but my comments were referring to the overall Bond thing.
NO.............I dont really believe that members here totally disliked CR......though i do believe their hatred for the film is
based on them not liking the lead actor because he doesn't have dark hair, is 2 inches too short and has a potato face.
Oops what have i done

PS: the 'Sweeney' has asked a question, why isnt it being answered?

I thought The Sweeney's question was directed specifically at katied. If the question you're referring to is whether I looked forward to CR, then yes I did. I had my reservations about Craig based on the publicity photo that accompanied his casting, but I thought I'd get used to him once I got absorbed in the movie, in the same way that I had accepted Dalton and Brosnan as Bond by the end of their first films. In fact I was even looking forward to QOS, albeit with some trepidation, until I saw the trailer. The trailer hammered home to me that I still can't bring myself to think of Craig as Bond, however hard I try (and contrary to the beliefs of the pro-Craigers here, I did try and try and try), and that it is likely to replicate many of the things I disliked about CR, only more so.

I guess I don't fit that category since I've regretted getting the UE volumes after they finally started selling them separately. If I knew then I probably would have waited then bought at least half of them.
Arthur Brain wrote:Kris............you will still be going to see QOS though, i hope, as there may be some parts of it you'd like?
Like I said, it largely depends on my finances at the time. If I can afford to see both QOS and Harry Potter, I will. If I can only afford to see one, then I'm afraid Potter wins. And if you'd told me in 2002 that I was going to say that, I'd never have believed you.

Blimey...........go see QOS..................QOS comes out first, see that, then you may have the money a couple of weeks
later to see HP6.
