Villenuve and Berger..maybe.Wright I associate with the movies he made with Simon Pegg. Know nothing about the others.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I think Wright could do it. He is mostly known for comedies, but has pivoted towards more dramatic films in recent years. Paul King has worked with Heyman before, but heis previous filmography (Paddington, Wonka) doeasn't exactly scream "Bond director" to me. I don't know how reliable this source is, though. Could just be more clickbait.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The report also includes an update on the timeline of Bond 26's development and production, with plans to have a director in place, before moving on to scripting and casting. It's already been four years since the latest installment, but things should be gathering pace soon:
"The new Amazon brain trust—Heyman, Pascal, and top executives Mike Hopkins and Courtenay Valenti—plan to set the director this summer, then get the script written, then cast the next Bond. Though obviously the filmmakers’ thoughts on 007, and who might play him, will come up in the meetings—most of which are taking place at Heyman’s house in London."

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Interesting. Usually they have at least the first draft of a script in place before hiring a director. Again, that's assuming the report is true. Apologies for my scepticism, but there's so much fake news out there, particularly entertainment news, that I have learned to be wary.bjmdds wrote: Sat Jun 21, 2025 2:08 pm

Not saying Wright couldn’t do it..just avoid fan service and it being a “funny” Bond. If, as you say, he *can* do dramatic movies, great.

The script will get done quickly most likely, not the tedious way Broccoli did it. It looks like she DELIBERATELY delayed doing films as a way to stretch out her title of producer to the Hollywood elites. There is NO reason why she could not churn out a film every 3 years with writers. She just did not want to.

I was gonna make a comment about Babzy taking her time but there’s not enough brain bleach in the world.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Well, "quickly" is a relative term. Most blockbuster movies go through multiple rewrites, and with Bond, that was true even in the '70s. How many rejected ideas came from that period (DAF bringing back Gert Frobe as Goldfinger's diamond-obsessed brother, TSWLM featuring the Loch Ness monster etc)?bjmdds wrote: Sat Jun 21, 2025 2:28 pm The script will get done quickly most likely, not the tedious way Broccoli did it. Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
If that 2027 date is correct they have to move fast to get the film ready for release by then.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
It'd probably be November 2027 (most Bond films are released in November), which gives them two-and-a-bit years. It sounds like things are finally moving now that the dead hand of Barbara Broccoli has been removed, but I imagine they will want to take their time and get it right, rather than rush a half-baked "will this do" film into production. This is probably the most important film for the series' future since Goldeneye.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
The founder of the Kleindienst Group is challenging trademark registrations relating to the James Bond franchise, including ‘007’ and the iconic expression “Bond, James Bond”. The property tycoon, who is building a $5bn luxury resort complex called the Heart of Europe on six artificial islands off Dubai, has filed claims in the UK and Europe to take control of the James Bond name, arguing that the trademarks have been commercially underexploited. For Kleindienst, the “non-use” means that various protections around James Bond's intellectual property have expired. Under UK and European law, if a trademark is not commercially exploited for five years in the categories for which it is registered, it may be subject to revocation proceedings. James Bond owners Danjaq, the US company that controls the rights to sell James Bond merchandise worldwide in conjunction with UK production company Eon, say the legal battle launched by the property developer to get his hands on the James Bond trademarks is “an unprecedented assault on the franchise,” reports The Guardian. Lawyers representing Danjaq are gathering evidence to prove that the trademarks are still being commercialised, arguing that Kleindienst’s “non-use” challenges represent "abuse of process”............this is what can happen in the UK it seems when you do nothing with your property except disappear due to lack of interest for years.

Not this guy again. I'm surprised he hasn't been labelled a "vexatious litigant" by now.

You know of him? vexatious: causing or tending to cause annoyance, frustration, or worry.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I'm pretty sure this story has been posted here before. It's been running for a while, anyway. In legal terms, a vexatious litigant is one who keeps bringing frivolous lawsuits, often the same lawsuit multiple times, until the courts say "no more".bjmdds wrote:You know of him? vexatious: causing or tending to cause annoyance, frustration, or worry.

Just deleted a bot post claiming to offer AI-generated answers to all our Bond-related questions. When I see the amount of nonsense that human reporters produce about Bond, I dread to think what AI would do!

Well, I guess we're getting traction. The first question is which Denis are we going to get, Sicario or Blade Runner 2049? The next question is of course, who will be Bond? Which depends on the results of the first question.Irony-Man2 wrote: Thu Jun 26, 2025 12:57 am https://variety.com/2025/film/news/jame ... 236441253/

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I have mixed feelings myself, I prefer journeymen directors rather than auteurs, but then you would have to have a strong hand at the tiller (or any for that matter) steering the ship, as was the case under Cubby. Now that Denis is onboard will he be shepherding the series for the foreseeable future, or are we getting a steady stream of auteurs one after the other?

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
If nothing else, Amazon is definitely sending a strong message with this hire and letting everyone know they're taking the franchise seriously. I feel like Villeneuve has surpassed Nolan over the past 5-10 years as the name I see most often whenever the subject of a "dream" director for Bond pops up online.
Assuming they're aiming for a 2027 release date, that means it will have been 25 years since the last James Bond film!
