The brand NEW 6/4 favorite to be the 7th 007 is now THEO JAMES, 40, from White Lotus. The girl looks just like Carole Bouquet from FYEO. He looks much better then Cr-egg did and has overtaken Cavill in the betting, who is now 3/1. Judge for yourselves. What say YEE gang? I still prefer Aidan Turner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlzMrZwsSqI

It's gone a bit quiet on the news front lately, but FWIW, Henry Golding says he's up for it:

The days of a scalped porcupine as Bond are over MP with Bezos in charge most likely. We should know the answer by this summer.

Still no announcement of a director, which would normally precede the announcement of the new Bond. But unlike under the previous regime, I'm confident that things are chugging along quietly behind the scenes.

ATJ would be no better than Cr-egg in terms of getting it right! The guy and his motherly wife on the red carpet as Bond is not a good look and his acting is nothing great either. There are MUCH better choices out there but Pascal could be listening to Broccoli in the shadows about this decision.

I wouldn't read too much into the Omega announcement. As the article says, they have hired actors with no connection to Bond as brand ambassadors before.

By the way, I googled to see how much time passed between Martin Campbell being announced as director of CR and Craggy being announced as its star, and it was over 8 months. So I'm not too hopeful about a summer announcement for the new Bond.

Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning gets an A- CinemaScore, a half grade down from Dead Reckoning’s A with 5 stars and 89% positive on PostTrak and great 79% definite recommend. Yesterday was $24.8M (including previews) on its way to a $77M 4-day.

Broccoli said that Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were likely to be hired initially to work on Bond 26. However, Amazon is reportedly assembling writers to work on Bond 26 and it is likely that Purvis and Wade’s days as 007 screenwriters are over.

Well, that's good news. I've defended P&W in the past, but I think it's time to hand the reins to someone else. My intuition, based on previous films, is that they will wait until at least the first draft of the script is handed in, then choose a new director, and then announce the next Bond.

P&Ws best days were long ago. They were part of the new idea drought. Only new idea they had was to make it political, pro establishment.
Unfortunately the other writers eon hired were worse .

The Bond franchise is getting stale. No doubt a new Bond and new writers(and no Babzy from the sidelines) will help TREMENDOUSLY.

I say good riddance to bad rubbish, they had one interesting idea 30 years ago making the damsel turn into the femme fatale. Since then they've rehashed the same plot beats in each of their fallowing films. Bond finds himself on the outside at MI6, Bond gets involved because this time it's personal (unlike the last time or the time before that nor the other time) and usually a double agent is involved. Lather, rinse, repeat!

I think that's why I defended them! Whatever their faults, they weren't Paul Haggis.

True.
I understand how P&W got stuck as DB said in lather, rinse, and repeat mode of bond.
One good thing about them is they tried to shy away from some truly bad ideas, most from other writers Babs and Craig called in to mingle with, because these writers were the flavor of the day in Hollywood.
Craig’s era was potentially worse without P&W cleaning it up.
But when p&W are out there every other movie complaining there’s no where to really take bond they should voluntarily leave the series.

Bond movies are not some enigma waiting to be figured out, plenty of current writers and directors can make bond clone movies and have done it with fresh ideas, it’s not impossible.

Well it probably was impossible for Babs. She ran that ship ashore long ago.

This had better not be the foreteller of what is to come! Why would Omega watches use a non-Bond in their ad campaign? That would not make sense and Bezos might NOT be as secretive as EON was. The watch is now ticking tick tock.Image
