James Bond movie producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have provided an official casting update for the next 007 actor while also confirming they still don’t have a window for when a decision will be made. Speaking with the Independent, the producers addressed the future of the iconic action franchise, committing to the fact that they aren’t in any rush to launch its next era. “It’s a big decision,” Broccoli said, underscoring the importance of taking time to find the right actor to take on the role.

“Every time we cast a new actor, the films change,” Wilson added. “It’s the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction. Every one of these people who took on the role offered something new and different.”-------official nothing! It sounds like they just wanted to touch base with the fans, then disappear again with more free publicity online.

Talking to The Independent, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson spoke about the future of James Bond and who will play the role,. Barbara said that it is a big decision indeed. Talking about what they are looking for in the next Bond, she shared, "It will be a man. He'll likely be in his 30s. Whiteness is not a given. And whoever says yes is doing so with the expectation of at least a decade's worth of films."

Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson will follow in Cubby's footsteps tomorrow when they are awarded the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award - an honourary Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Roger Moore presented Cubby with his in 1982)........how nice to be loved by Hollywood. Broccoli lives for these moments.

Daniel Cr-egg is teasing Bond fans! On Sunday, Nov. 17, the actor, 56, attended the 15th Governors Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and hinted that the next James Bond "might be" in the room.

"Let's just get something out of the way," Cr-egg said while introducing Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who were honored with the the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.

"If you came here this evening to find out who the next James Bond is, don't look at me, but he might be in the room. I'm just joking. Maybe I'm not," he added...........The award has only been handed out 39 times since it was created in 1939, according to the AP. Broccoli is also just the second woman to receive this particular award, after Lucasfilm's president Kathleen Kennedy received it in 2018.

“It’s very humbling,” Broccoli told the AP of the honor. “I think of so many people who have come before us, so many people I wish had been given the honor who aren’t with us anymore.”

Broccoli also noted to the outlet that her father Albert "Cubby" Broccoli received the same award at the 1982 Oscars, stating that his Oscars statuette "was the most important physical possession he had."-------this is why Hollywood is a joke. What has Broccoli done to warrant such recognition? How many REAL producers have NEVER received ANY awards? They are a bunch of ELITIST narcissists who live in a bubble and heap feign praise upon each other and are detached from the real world.

lol. Thats a pretty hefty work load.

Hard to believe the original series had a two year turnaround. More or less.

Part of me thinks Babs is waiting to be sued out of existence.

Or for Amazon to break fist and offer something ridiculous to sell.

Conspiracy theories below on why I think she has to make a new movie or give it up.

In theory Amazon own half of all the bond films babs owns, and then Amazon has thunderball and casino royal which Babs does not own, both of which were enough for rival studios to attempt their own franchise .

Power Babs had with mgm and Sony was they needed her to make movies; to survive for mgm, for Sony it was make money in the limited time frame they had to soak up that profit.

Amazon can wait until the end of days and not need Babs to do anything.

If Babs doesn’t get moving soon she’ll be hoarding the rights to no longer valuable franchise since it won’t be making movies.

Valuable catalog of films, past tense , the value of the broccoli family is only their ability to make new content, if they’re not doing that, their values diminished.

End game
So either Babs is sued for breach of contract by the vendors and other people involved under the pretense she never intended to make these movies. And she’ll lose that, last scene she filmed for bond was during the last trump administration. That’s a long time to be in preproduction.

Next option Amazon tries to strike out on their own with the rights they control and make their own series, figuring the broccoli family/ EoN are no longer a creative force. Or the movie audience evolved beyond the need for the broccoli family to administer these movies.

If they do Babs will sue, and for the first time in her families history they’ll be the “little guys”of a major lawsuit;

Truth is she’s probably super lazy and unaffected by inflation. So hasn’t begun to leave the hibernation cycle figuring she’ll always be in demand.

IF Cr-egg was still in the picture Broccoli would have made that film 3 years ago. She no longer wants to do Bond films and as was said here time and time again, why is Bezos not putting any pressure on EON to put up or get lost already and sell out their rights to the franchise? The reason she won't is that it would KILL her to see Bond more fun and successful without her in control and she becoming an afterthought.

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Maybe he is, or maybe Amazon are content to have Bond as part of their MGM legacy library, along with The Wizard of Oz and the Tarzan films.

I haven't been able to verify this yet, but I've just seen an unconfirmed report that Craggy is going to play Sgt Rock in a new TV series for DC Studios. If he can get the accent right (and he's done American accents before), it could be a better fit for him than the Bond role.

True, we don't know exactly what's going on behind the curtain (to make a Wizard Of Oz reference), but when Amazon bought MGM Bond was hailed as the "jewel in the crown" of the studio. I can't imagine Bezos is happy to sit on his hands concerning the biggest series in his arsenal and simply play reruns on his streaming service.

To BJ's comments, be careful what you wish for old boy, I'm sure a "Bezos Bond" would not be in any way an improvement on what has been done over the last two decades, in fact I'm quite confident it would be abjectly worse.

How hands-on is Bezos with Amazon's film and TV division? Does he have any say in the actual content of what they produce?

I don't know obviously, maybe some, most likely none, when I say "Bezos' Bond" it's just a nickname for what the Amazon corporation would do with the franchise.

Honestly not familiar with sgt rock , Craig wasn’t that good in that other ww2 move, defiance , and dc isn’t that good a brand but as brosnan proved that you can give a good performance in other wise garbage movie. So maybe this will be a better fit. Much better than bond.

There was resistance before Amazon bought mgm, I really think Babs could be treated better than ever if she’d play ball, ultimately I think she’s too comfortable and too rich. Too bitter at the past and her daddy’s legacy
