I saw that suggestion. Broccoli will be in her 70s if she waits for the next generation. It is so obvious that she has NO intention of going forward with the franchise and I cannot believe she is being given such lazy latitude by her new boss.

It's saying what Babz wants it to say, it reeks of Babz' reply to Amazon and the statement by Salke earlier. This delay is Babz flexing her contractual muscles against Amazon and we can also infer from this article Amazon want to make an extended universe and television/streaming spin offs which Babz adamantly opposes. It also seems, if this article is correct, Babz wants to go much younger in her casting, probably something Amazon doesn't want to do and personally I think would be a big mistake.Kristatos wrote: Fri Oct 11, 2024 7:34 pm Opinion piece from the Grauniad, saying...actually, I'm not quite sure what it's saying:

Well, we already know that she wants an actor in his late 20s or early 30s, in the hope of bringing in a younger audience. I don't think that's a terrible idea, Bond does need new fans if the franchise is to survive in the long term. But your interpretation does make sense. The article takes great pains to emphasise that Babbzy, and not Amazon, is ultimately in charge of Bond. I do agree with her on not wanting a James Bond Cinematic Universe, though.dirtybenny wrote:

Exactly my thoughts. Someone was paid to write something that was meant to give headaches it was so vacuous. I’m telling you that word seems pretty consistent that Othello will be put to bed first, then expect casting news in 2026 with the new guy announced later that year with a release date to be announced for 2027. I just don’t worry about Bond right now. I’m comfortable knowing nothing will happen for at least another couple years. I’ve gone back to reading Fleming. He’s more entertaining than most of the films being released right now.Kristatos wrote: Fri Oct 11, 2024 7:34 pm Opinion piece from the Grauniad, saying...actually, I'm not quite sure what it's saying:

As I get older, it’s just a reality that the new Bond will just get younger and younger. And Kristatos is correct— for Bond to survive, it needs a younger man to bring in the new generation of fans. And I one hundred percent agree with Babs to block any universe building. It saturates the IP and kills it inside of three years.Kristatos wrote: Sat Oct 12, 2024 7:13 pmWell, we already know that she wants an actor in his late 20s or early 30s, in the hope of bringing in a younger audience. As I’ve been told, expect casting to begin in 2026. Release date in 2027. You will have Babs around for this era. Gregg will be taking a larger role, big time.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Here's why I think casting a twentysomething/early thirtysomething will be a mistake, EON will be forgoing two whole generations from having "their Bond." As in a Bond of their own age group, the majority of "Gen X" and the "Millennials" will be without a Bond they can identify and instead we'll be faced with some baby-faced teenager for all intents and purposes gadding about like a school boy, while those this actor's own age ignore the franchise because they're into other media as is usually the case with that age group historically. The way you bring in younger demographics into Bond is how they've always done it, appeal to the older crowd who will in turn get the children hooked (that's also why there should never be a Bond film stronger than PG-13/12A), they will eventually turn away for a few years in their 20-30's but will come back, lather, rinse, repeat. It's how Bond survived 60+ years. Look at the Tom Cruise Mission Impossible films until recently they were unstoppable juggernauts, that last film barely broke even.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I'm Gen X, and I have no objection to a 30-year-old Bond. If they adapted the Young Bond novels with a school-age actor in the role, I might feel I wasn't the target audience, but late 20s/early 30s is quite old enough for a leading actor. George Lazenby was 29 when he played Bond, and whilst I have some problems with his portrayal, his age wasn't one of them.

Well I suppose we shall see when the seventh Bond is announced sometime in the next decade or two.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Amazon MGM Studios' Jennifer Salke confirms no rush in casting the next James Bond, valuing audience patience. The decision will closely involve Eon Productions' Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. Despite industry rumors, a new James Bond TV show is not currently in the works at Amazon. The focus remains on maintaining the iconic film legacy, following the Amazon-MGM merger.

Pierce just posted a very strange video of himself on Facebook, where he just stared silently into the camera for a minute or two, wearing a pair of oversized sunglasses. Anyone know what that was about?

According to Betway Casino, Aaron has now been pushed off top spot. It comes as new research analysed the number of Google searches, articles, article engagement and Reddit mentions for 31 potential actors to see who had created the most hype online making one actor a firm fan favourite to become the 007 spy. Using the data, Henry Cavill, well-known for playing roles like Superman and the starring role in Netflix’s fantasy series The Witcher, was revealed to be the favourite to play 007 in the next James Bond film. Coming in a close third place was Idris Elba, with Tom Hardy coming in fourth place and Cillian Murphy in fifth

His latest film Queer, which is directed by Call Me By Your Name film-maker Luca Guadagnino, sees him take a new direction. But it has divided critics, with several describing it as "incoherent" and others awarding it five stars. The film received its UK premiere at London's Royal Festival Hall on Thursday, but Cr-egg did not attend as scheduled due to illness. Director Guadagnino and Cr-egg's co-star Drew Starkey walked the red carpet in his absence.

All of which means precisely bugger all when it comes to the actual casting process, of course.bjmdds wrote:According to Betway Casino, Aaron has now been pushed off top spot. Precisely why Henry will never get the role:bjmdds wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 3:55 am According to Betway Casino, Aaron has now been pushed off top spot. A) Nobody tells Babz who to cast, no matter how loud the outcry.
B) Babz loves to over think her casting/plotlines/film titles, she won't make the obvious choice no matter how perfect and if someone does figure out her thought prosses she has to change it, as if the "surprise" is worth the subterfuge (see the title drama from NTTD).

My suspicion is that the film actually was called Shatterhand originally, but she was was forced to change it due to the number of people going "huh huh, you said shat".dirtybenny wrote: if someone does figure out her thought prosses she has to change it, as if the "surprise" is worth the subterfuge (see the title drama from NTTD).

Exactly Kris, heaven forbid her brilliant title get leaked! Babz is going to have to learn times have changed and clever people on the internet are going to figure out her grand schemes. The fact juvenile minds ran with it was just icing on the cake.Kristatos wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:11 pmMy suspicion is that the film actually was called Shatterhand originally, but she was was forced to change it due to the number of people going "huh huh, you said shat".dirtybenny wrote: if someone does figure out her thought prosses she has to change it, as if the "surprise" is worth the subterfuge (see the title drama from NTTD).

Shatterhand has been used as a stand-in title for several Bond films; it’s used until a title has been agreed upon .dirtybenny wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:18 pmKristatos wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:11 pmMy suspicion is that the film actually was called Shatterhand originally, but she was was forced to change it due to the number of people going "huh huh, you said shat".dirtybenny wrote: if someone does figure out her thought prosses she has to change it, as if the "surprise" is worth the subterfuge (see the title drama from NTTD).

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
There was a different title registered to the production that slips my mind at the moment, which was quickly shelved once it was leaked on the net, precipitating the lack of official title when production started.
