Not at all. I think the Democratic Party deserves to be razed to the ground and replaced with (hopefully) something better. I just hate that the best hope of achieving this is an authoritarian, racist crook.

As for Harris, seeing Tulsi Gabbard eviscerate her at the primary debates was one of the best moments of the election campaign for me.

Dude, it's not fairly obvious. You just said it yourself that he's doing legalese babble. And he's not going to come right out and say the Constitution sucks. So he wrapped it around the legalese, and his explanation is twisted. The whole idea of the Constitution is to limit the powers of government and to tilt the powers over to the individual. But this guy sees that as a bad thing. That's what he's implying there but he can't come right out and say it because he obviously has to cover his ass and not look like a radical.
Kristatos wrote: Did he actually redistribute any wealth in that time, except to his corporate donors?
Um...yes. He did it through tax hikes. You need to familiarize yourself with the tax hikes in the Obama budget. For starters, he did all sorts of itemized deduction caps, including limiting the maximum value of itemized deductions, like those for charitable donations and mortgage interest. This is an income tax increase. No matter what tax bracket you are in, under this Obama provision you couldn't benefit any more than if you were in the 28 percent bracket. I basically summarized Grover Norquist's analysis. But he explains it all, going into detail that “There are three tax brackets higher than this: 33 percent, 35 percent, and 39.6 percent. These families will not be able to fully deduct things like mortgage interest, charitable deductions, and state taxes paid. Note that this is on top of the phaseout of itemized deductions ("Pease") that President Obama forced on taxpayers in the fiscal cliff. Tax increase: $529 billion.” I could go on but I just don't have the time. But here are other things off the top of my head: IRA and 401(k) plan restrictions, capital gains tax hike, energy tax hikes, financial system tax increases that targeted taxes on banks, brokerage firms, life insurance companies (in other words, stuff that affects the way that the middle class saves and invests). Then of course, there's Obamacare, and I don't have the time to get into that mess.

Kristatos, dude, in these last few days, I've had a dosage of your comments. Honestly, it seems you have a one-hitter sitting on your desk. This is not an accusation. Just pure speculation because I'm trying to grasp your unstable thoughts. You can't be that unreasonable and irrational in your "regular" state. Look, I get it. In my youth, it was a must-have, and I liked its slender quality for easy concealment. Thing is, it's getting impossible to engage in political discussions when the other person just finished inhaling slowly and is rattling off incoherent ideas while zoned out, ready to fly off into a blue dream.

White House Watch
Trump Takes First Lead
Wednesday, September 16, 2020
President Trump has now edged to a one-point lead over Democratic nominee Joe Biden in the latest Rasmussen Reports’ weekly White House Watch survey. While statistically insignificant, it’s the first time Trump has been ahead. The new national telephone and online survey finds the president with a 47% to 46% lead over Biden among Likely U.S. Voters. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, while four percent (4%) remain undecided.

I don't know what any of this means, but I assume it's something to do with drugs. Sorry to disappoint you, but I've never even smoked a cigarette, and I rarely drink alcohol. Maybe my thoughts aren't always coherent, but that's the downside of not being in a cult. You have to try and figure things out for yourself, instead of having your opinions spoon-fed to you by an all-powerful leader via his approved communications channels.

Kris, your "cult" concept is disturbing. We hear this same left-wing talking point here a lot that people who support Trump are in a "cult". If you think that, you need psychological help at once. The media has a "cult" with their Democrat friends and left-wing politicians. Is BLM a cult? Are Oh-bama acolytes a cult? You throw around words that are defining you as a main stream media follower yourself. Your mantra is standard left-wing jargon. People who support Trump do so based on his RESULTS. People do not want to be dictated to as to what to think and what to say by your crowd, and we won't. What you call a "cult" is what we refer to as PATRIOTISM. Not being a citizen here you might not understand that but since we were BORN and RAISED here we have a better understanding of what is going on. Indoctrinating young children in schools with propaganda is NOT what we want as an example. CULT? Look at yourself first in the mirror. Get on the ALE train and make yourself feel better. Gas chambers-----cults--------what lunacy is next?

There is no one standard definition of a cult, but there are certain features that keep cropping up when you research the subject:-
  • A charismatic leader, who demands absolute loyalty
  • Demonisation of outsiders
  • Strict control of the flow of information (any media critical of the leader is "fake news")
  • Dissent is treason
  • Sense of victimhood
  • Binary "you're either with us or against us" mentality
Any politician can attract followers like that, but Trump supporters seem more prone to it than most. This is not just my opinion. Steven Hassan, a former Moonie who now specialises in cult deprogramming, has written a book called The Cult of Trump, making the exact same argument. I haven't read it, so I am not basing my observations on his. Of course, another feature of cults is projection of their behaviour onto outsiders, so I'm fully expecting your response to this to be along the lines of "no, it's the people who don't worship Trump, and get their information from sources other than Fox News, who are the brainwashed ones." It always is.

We the political system has be come scaremongering and dog whistles, it’s not isolated to any one belief. I’ve seen Christians play the take away our religious freedoms card, environmentalist are a easy comparison, because the are just as furvant and devout.
The only way major parties see forward is mimicking the radical fringes urgency. Which is not how it used to be.

I should add that not all Trump supporters exhibit cult-like behaviour. There are people who regard Trump as the lesser of two evils, but don't give off that creepy North Korea vibe.

Part of the problem, as you say, is the two-party system. I know it has become a bit of a cliche to say this, but it is weird to me that a country where you can choose from a dozen flavours of popcorn when you go to the movies makes it so hard for third parties to gain any real traction. I just read that the Dems in Wisconsin have successfully sued to keep the Green Party off the ballot in that state. You don't even have to be a Green Party supporter to think that's messed up.

BJ, it's no longer worthwhile to discuss politics with him. I don't mean this as angry criticism. But something is amiss. Even disturbing. The wild assertions, moving from one exaggerated generalization to another, tell me something is not right. I looked over the discussions, thinking maybe I caused some offense. Kristatos is our moderator, he's done a good job at that, and I respect this forum. But geez, the ideas are whacked out. The disorientation is obvious. To come up with an idea like gas chambers and accusations that you have violent criminal intentions for liberals--these alone are not good signs. But then his ideas drift on, completely unfocused, with no sense of perspective, then suddenly we get a vague criticism about Jared Kushner (Kushner always reminded me of the wimp in high school but I guess the criticism is trying to suggest he's a vile creature, maybe worse than Vlad the Impaler?). These are just some examples. I'm telling you, something is not right. It's impossible for a person to have zero critical thinking skills, unless that person is zoned out on the pineapple express. It is what it is.

Kushner is a member of Trump's extended family, and so has been a beneficiary of his father-in-law's fusion of the national interest with his business interests (for example, he and Ivanka own shares in the company that makes the unproven drug that Trump has been pushing as a cure for Covid-19). But you're right, further discussion is useless. Drugs may be the only explanation you can think of for your leader being questioned, but it doesn't make it true.

Rasmussen poll: 22 percent of surveyed blacks said they are voting for Trump. In 2016, Trump received 8.4 percent of the black vote. NO Republican has EVER had a number that high as people flee the socialist anarchists formerly known as the Democrat party.

A group of Australian law professors have given President Trump his third Nobel Peace Prize nomination for his commitment to ending foreign wars.

"The Trump Doctrine is something extraordinary, as so many things that Donald Trump does," law professor David Flint explained on Sky News. "He is guided by two things, which seem to be absent from so many politicians. He has firstly common sense and he is only guided by a national interest, and therefore, in our circumstances, an interest in the Western alliance. What he has done with the Trump Doctrine is that he has decided that he would no longer have America involved in endless wars, wars which achieve nothing, but the killing of thousands of young Americans and enormous debts imposed on America."   Kris' gas chamber President has THREE nominations now for the "not so" Nobel Peace Prize :!:

https://nypost.com/2020/09/29/cia-told- ... spy-chief/ Why did it take 3 years to find out the truth that Hillary Clinton set up Trump because the CIA wanted HER investigated by the Comey led FBI? :cuss: Trump was 100% innocent and it was a complete legal hoax :!: Maybe a ledge awaits ALE and her cohorts soon.

Are you being sarcastic or factual? If so, it proves she had the famed liberal Trump Derangement Syndrome which causes liberals to hate their relatives and friends over politics and it is factual because I have lost friends over it, others I know have lost relatives over it, and the one constant is that these losers REFUSE to engage FACTUAL discussions. They ONLY want to hear their shared twisted commentary which has no factual basis. An example, ask a liberal if Trump deserves a less than Nobel Peace prize and they "dummy up" and cringe in silence, as if it never happened. ALE wasted 4 years of her life excommunicating herself from this forum due to politics. A very troubled and lost woman for sure who embarrassed herself daily. It is sad.

President Trump has ended former President Obama's 12-year run as the most admired man in America, edging out his predecessor in the annual Gallup survey released Tuesday. Eighteen percent of the survey's respondents named Trump as their most admired man, compared to 15 percent who named Obama and only 6 percent who named President-elect Joe Biden. -------liberals must choke on this and the corrupt media won't report it. Biden got 81 million LEGAL votes? Impossible that the walking corpse tallied that amount :!:
