Back from the burn unit with another rant!
It's a little picture heavy so posted it directly to the main site, tell me what you think.

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
I've been posting my rants here before publishing on the Daniel Craig Not Bond site in order to get commentary first. However it seems everyone has been satisfied with them prompting me to start posting directly to the site and including a link here. I hope everyone keeps commenting either here or there telling me the good, bad and ugly. As always thanks for all the support!

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
Regarding Spielberg directing FYEO, I think Cubby said at the time that he wanted James Bond to be the most famous name in the opening credits, or something like that. I don't know if he would have bumped Barry for Williams, but he might have bumped Bill Conti.

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
I love the rant DB! Great pics as well - of course I particularly like the Homages meme.
David Arnold was a worthy successor to John Barry I feel. He deserves to return to Bond although, until it's a proper Bond with a coherent, exciting story primarily about the espionage of Fleming's Bond's missions, I must admit it makes little difference to me. I still have no plans to subject myself to SPECTRE for the foreseeable future and it's doubtful that attitude will change much if and when Bond 25 finally lumbers into the box office.

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
Thank you both!
Kris, to your point I'll defer to your superior knowledge. I was just going by an article I saw discussing the 30th anniversary of Indy 3 where Spielberg was quoted as saying his being American was why he wasn't chosen. I too believe Spielberg would have bumped Conti, too bad he hadn't the opportunity.
Acid, at the rate they're going by the time they make a proper Bond, Arnold will too arthritic to strum that guitar!

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
Ah well, if he's not going to do proper Bond, maybe I can dream of him teaming back up with Bjork. I love a bit of Play Dead now and again. She could have been an interesting choice for a Bond title song as well.dirtybenny wrote:Acid, at the rate they're going by the time they make a proper Bond, Arnold will too arthritic to strum that guitar!

"Ever-deserting Craig-Bond"
LOL Benny, spot on.
As for this whole black woman as 007 business I am baffled at their lack of understanding of how boring they are with their PC claptrap.
Bond was written as a white, male straight character, deal with it.
I know being straight, white and male is the worst thing you could possibly be to these Hollywood uber-leftist but making 007 a black woman won't make it any more interesting. It's time to make 007 fun again and this ain't doing it.

It's just a bit of trick casting and shock writing, like killing M and Brofeld.Veronica wrote:As for this whole black woman as 007 business I am baffled at their lack of understanding of how boring they are with their PC claptrap.

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
Furthermore, didn't we already have a black female agent back in LALD? And then again in DAD? Thought so. This is nothing new. Just goes on to showcase how little imagination they have left.
Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
Not really, because neither of those agents was given the 007 code number. Having someone other than Bond be 007 is something that's been done in the continuation novels before, but never in the movies (though MGW apparently wanted to have Bond meet the previous 007 in TLD, back when he was planning it as a reboot with a young Bond on his first mission).Veronica wrote:Furthermore, didn't we already have a black female agent back in LALD? Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
From what the history Fleming has it seems like 007 any agent 7 is bond and dies with him. New replacement should be another number but eon already broke this with 006 and goldeneye.
I kind of assumed from the movies 007 was a job, the way Fleming had it especially in YOLT makes it seem like bond is 7, then assigned to whatever department, 00 or not

Oh, man. You should be the one writing Bond's one liners.

Lol, thanks V, I wish I could take sole credit for that, but I've seen it elsewhere since I started writing it.

True O, but first #metoo would have to go back to cleaning up Hollywood, not likely so long as they control it!Omega wrote:Honestly #metoo could swallow bond if the rumors about Craig are true

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant
When I first saw the link to the great article I though DB was saying Craig likes Indian food.
