Then they'd have to reshoot all Craig's scenes from scratch. Plus the new actor would be a constant reminder to the audience of the film's troubled production history.

"He's the one that doesn't smile" - Queen Elizabeth II on Daniel Craig
This could be the Bond franchise's Game Of Death scenario. After Bruce Lee died, they went back and spliced film clips of him with new clips and turned out a mess of a film, that should never had been released.

There was a Pink Panther film released after Peter Sellers' death that did something similar. Talking of Sellers reminds me that he and Orson Welles refused to be on set together during the filming of CR67. And we all know how well that turned out.

I don't know that Craig filmed a whole lot yet, but there's no way he could be recast at this point. The whole story (such that it is) is geared for Craig, imagine the new actor walking in to the OHMSS ripoff they have planned , not only would it be garbage (even more than it is now) it would also derail the new actor's train before even pulling out of the station. If anybody goes it's Malek, he's far more expendable at this point. That is if EON can let go of their Oscar fetish, it'll be interesting to see if they replace or reschedule release and if so who they replace him with.

I know it will be anybody but Craig who goes, babs will declare it a loss and collect the insurance before admitting Craig was anything but too perfect.
It’s just ironic the guy who already doesn’t show up on set whos stunt double films the majority of his scenes is too inconvenienced to show up for half a day filming with the villain Oscar winner.

Hey Big O, Craig can't just shirk his responsibility, those shifts at Burger King won't work themselves!

Oscar fetish is a good description for it, yes. Problem with these Oscar winners is they have a self-conceited sense of their value. They are practically behaving as they are all doing us a huge favour by just appearing in as something as "simple" as a Bond movie.
Funnily enough how Oscar winners seems to just fail in Bond movies. Bardem and Waltz were trying to camp it up as much as possible but just ended up being inefective and tiresome. Halle Berry, a hot property back in 2002 was a disaster(granted her lines weren't any better) and she looked like a bloody amateur compared to Rosamund Pike to whom DAD was the first movie.

Daniel Craig's looking less and less like a Bond poster boy ... and more like a guy ready to cash in his AARP discount. Daniel was out at JFK Sunday in NYC where he needed not one but TWO walking forearm crutches while protecting his bum left foot with a walking boot..........In NYC 2 days ago? Broccoli's Bond 25, still untitled folly, is going to bring her down Is this any way to run a franchise Once again, to describe EON Productions in 3 words:
