Shazam fell only 53% by the numbers its supposed to be good but it opened very weak and isn’t gaining ground through word of mouth. Odd because those who saw the early previews loved it but friend who have gone since opening day are over whelmed by how good it is. Maybe the Shazam fans got the first taste know what to expect and average movie fans weren’t wowed by it

The Curse of La Llorna, a horror movie that I'll admit I'd never heard of before last Thursday, was #1 for the weekend. Unusual time of year to release a horror film, I normally associate them with Halloween, or at least winter time, when the nights are drawing in.

Shazam is at the break even mark but not really doing aquaman numbers. Honestly I have no idea what the comic history of Shazam is and I’m not a fan, so maybe there never was a huge market but at least it didn’t move dc backwards

Shazam was the original Captain Marvel, which predates Marvel Comics. They had to rename it when Marvel Comics acquired the rights to the name. The movie, I believe, was shot on a relatively low budget, and so should do OK.

Well it is at $322 million so they just crossed into the green.

I’ve always thought Shazam was weird. Guess it was reruns of the 70s series.

Dc and marvel have been stealing ideas from each other for decades. Even captain marvels name is a weird combination close to super girls alter ego. It seems both companies writers kind of evolved aware of the competition consciously and unconsciously stealing from each other. Until the recent marvel revival dc always rested on Batman and Superman being the two biggest movies franchises with the marvel outlier being Spider-Man. Dc and marvel have almost superhero to superhero same or similar powers and characters, yet marvel has successfully made a brand of their universe and dc is fractured with a couple big names and then their tv shows.

We went to endgame, it’s going to be very big. A lot of early showing , almost every screen was showing endgame. There were bigger fans than me there who go wild when certain characters had their moment. Literally screaming. We went with our nieces and nephews and I was concerned how rowdy they’d get watching the movie, needn’t have worried the fans in different places in the 3D theater we saw it in were louder than any pack of kids in our family.

Food for thought endgame has a estimated cost of $506 million counting everything, except participation and residuals, they expect it may break even Sunday.

My guess is people who hadn't seen CM yet wanting to catch up before they see Endgame.

That is what surprised me, there was so much momentum that the spill over of people who wanted to see CM because they hadn’t or wanted a appraiser or couldn’t get the endgame showing they wanted.

I’ve never seen a movie do this before of course nobody has done what Kevin feige has done with marvel before .
