A View To A Kill

Post by carl stromberg »

A View To A Kill is always low on Bond ranking lists. Mainly because Roger was a bit old, and it suffered a few budget cuts.

I love it though. It's in the Moonraker "cult Bond".

I love the pre-credit sequence with the Beach Boys and the glacier submarine.

The song is a classic. I love the music video.

Walken and Jones are great - and it has John Steed (not "John Steed" obviously, but you know what I mean).

The Eiffel Tower scene is memorable. As is the quiche scene.

Tanya is great......

I feel about it much the same way as I feel about DAD. It's not the greatest Bond film by a long shot, but I didn't think it was that bad.

I posted this on the Alternative007 site.

A View To A Kill.

This movie often ranks alongside Die Another Day as one of the poorer Bond entries. Is this a fair assessment? I’m inclined to say no. I feel this Bond movie is underrated and I’ll tell you why. First of all, I have to get the film’s flaws out of the way, as there are a few. The Beach Boy’s musical interlude during the PTS, Tanya Roberts acting performance and the plot, have often been criticised and they are well documented as being disappointing aspects of the film. The other point for criticism in this movie was the age of Sir Rog. He was indeed looking old in this film, but did it really affect the film and my enjoyment? The answer is no. The reason for this was that the pace of the film and the direction by Glen was well suited to Moore's Bond and I personally felt this covered the age issue quite well. The scenes with Bond and Tibbett were particularly funny and quite memorable. The supporting cast was good for this film, with Christopher Walken and Patrick Macnee deserving for particular praise. AVTAK delivers a classic Bond performance and for all the negative issues surrounding the film, I feel it is a fitting swansong from the longest serving Bond and my personal favourite.

A View To A Kill is great. I can´t understand why people tend to hate it.
Rog is old (sometimes lookes young) but he was still the best in the role.

A View To a Kill has a great cast - Walken, Macnee, Roberts, Jones for example.

It also has John Barry.

I do rank it quite highly, but LALD is number 1 for me.

Hated everything about it. Only good thing about it was RM getting to say good buy.

There used to be a regal tradition in the series. Actors didn't leave before they wanted to.
SC could not wait to be gone.
GL Couldn't get much ruder if he tired.
RM Was ready to hand over the PPK.
TD Lost interest and gracefully made room.
PB Wanted to do more and had the desire to make the best possible movies. He was treated like s**t and still had 1 or 2 movies movies in him.

When the actor leaves on their own it is better for everybody.
