I don't think he is a Hollywood darling. In fact, I think he was pissed off with Hollywood, and that's what motivated him to try and bypass the major studios and finance LL independently. He wanted to give creative control to directors and writers, rather than the bean-counters. That's long been the case with arthouse movies, but he wanted to apply the same thinking to films aimed at mainstream audiences.

Daniel Craig says he's so famous that he's been forced to master binge drinking. The James Bond star says he only has a 30-minute window of opportunity in pubs before he's mobbed by fans. The 007 actor joked that his level of popularity means he's learned to sink as many pints as possible before he has to do a runner. The 50-year-old said: "I've got this window of opportunity in pubs of about 30 minutes," reports the Daily Star . "After that things start happening and it's not relaxing any more. I've got really good at drinking 18 pints in half an hour. I like to have a drink, and I love pubs and I love finding new pubs and places to socialise. But that has a limit on it now." Daniel said smartphones are to blame for ruining his nights out, because he's constantly mobbed by fans asking him to pose for selfies. He said he has no problem with signing autographs all day long or for posing for the odd picture, but that being photographed all night long in a bar "p****s" him off. He also said that people in the movie business all talk about the good old days when they could go to a bar and get so drunk they'd fall over without worrying that someone was going to get pictures and videos of them. Daniel says he "can't live a normal life" thanks to the fact that "everyone's got a camera". :jack: :Bonk:

Poor little Danny Boy, he's so rich and famous he can't go out and get piss drunk in public at age 50! Grow up! Your at grandfather age now old boy (emphasis on old and on boy for that matter) stop wingeing and do what most other alcoholics such as yourself do and get sloshed at home you cry baby! Do us all a favor and quit Bond, then nobody will care about you any more!

And Craig has never had the true bond mania Connery had to deal with, or the attention Moore, dalton and brosnan got.

I call bs on his statement that he doesn’t mind posing all day or signing autographs all day because he’s flown off the rails anytime anybody has asked him since day one. Just about every interview he bitches about the attention he gets.

The Alec Baldwin Show has won fall’s TV’s most ignoble prize: The first downsized show of the season. While the actor’s talk show hasn’t been officially canceled, ABC is moving the show from Sunday to burn off its remaining new episodes on Saturday nights at 10 p.m. starting Dec. 8. It will be replaced on Sunday by Shark Tank repeats.

I somehow doubt Craig is constantly "terorized" by fans in public. Screw Skyfall box office, that had little to do with him. Actors who really get stopped in public are stars like Depp(even though he lost his mojo) or Cruise or men, like previous Bond actors, who embody Bond qualities in everday life as well. Craig just... looks like blue collar worker who likes to gets completely pissed with beer. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just not Bond like at all.

I'm sure I've heard the Craig being mobbed in pubs story before. Is it an old one or is Craig rehashing his anecdotes?

edit- found a story from 2012

Assuming this is the article BJ is referencing:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/a ... g-him.html

It's just a word for word rehash of the article the Capt. linked from 5+ years ago! Has "journalism" sank so low?! How lazy can you get! Reading the comments of the newer article however, read like a thread on this page! Guess the masses are tiring of Craig's shenanigans!

Image Does he look uncannily familiar? A man has been arrested after being accused of making threatening phone calls to CNN. Benjamin Craig Matthews, 39, from Mountain Home, Arkansas, faces multiple counts of making terrorist threats and harassing communications. He also allegedly made death threats against a CNN host, Don Lemon.

Not quite word-for-word. They removed the reference to his latest film, Skyfall! But it does seem to be a case of dusting off a story from the archives and hoping no-one notices. Make you wonder whether this is just a one-off, or whether it happens all the time. I know they sometimes do it with things like horoscopes, which are just space-fillers, but not actual news items. Better hope that it's confined to lightweight celebrity gossip. I don't want to wake up one morning and find that we're at war with Germany again, for example.

November 9, 2018, Breaking News, Headline:

Prime Minister [s]Chamberlain[/s] May returns from meeting with German Chancellor [s]Hitler[/s] Merkel; declares "Peace in our time."

Seriously though, I wonder if this story is the start of EON's publicity machine roaring to life.

I don't want to encourage them by linking to the article, but the Daily Express just posted an article stating that the odds on Tom Hiddleston have been slashed AGAIN. The capital letters were theirs, and at least make a change from the usual amnesia whereby they act like they haven't reported the exact same story eleventeen times before. Interestingly, they give the reason as the announcement that Hiddleston is to star in a Loki TV series. Wouldn't that make it *less* likely that he would take on a major role like Bond?

Haven't seen it, but Agent Coulson was killed off in the first Avengers movie, and it didn't stop Agents of SHIELD.
