According to Entertainment Weekly, it’s been slotted in for November 8, 2019, which was originally supposed to be the release date for Bond 25 before Danny Boyle dropped out. Now, with True Detective’s Cary Fukunaga coming on board to replace Boyle, Bond 25 has been delayed and the door has been opened for a different British spy to take that November release date.
king of perfect since how it all started was the director was snubbed by Babs

Paramount retained the film rights to the Matt Helm series after its 2008 split from DreamWorks. In 2009, it was reported that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci would produce a more serious version of the Helm franchise, with Variety saying that the tone of Paul Attanasio's script was closer to that of the film The Bourne Identity and that Steven Spielberg was considering directing or producing. In March of 2018, Deadline Hollywood reported that Tom Shepard had been hired by Paramount to rewrite the script, with Bradley Cooper attached to play the titular character. Spielberg reportedly would remain involved in some unspecified capacity.
Thursday night’s premiere of “Murphy Brown” – coming back to the air 20 years after its original run concluded – couldn’t produce the kind of nostalgia-boosted ratings as other recent sitcom revivals. “Murphy Brown” grabbed a 1.1 for itself in the demo with only 7.42 million viewers.---------------how long before CBS pulls this rancid garbage that had a Hillary cameo to boot?
I don’t think that show was that great or relevant when they made it 20 years ago. It was a liberal darling show. I don’t believe it’s been rerun to death like other 90. & 80 s shows lie equalizer, friends, Seinfeld Rosanne,, 90210, so was there really and audience or just some producers remembering the old day when they though people bought in to their propaganda

I don't know if this would be good or bad news for classic Bond.
On the one hand some healthy competition could snap Babz and Co. out of this corny melodramatic bender they've been on and get back to cases.
On the other hand it may become another "dark gritty" series for them to blatantly copy and could ruin any chance for them to get back on track.

True, though this would be a bit more apples to apples in that it is a solitary agent acting in the world of espionage and also give them a whole new take on the genre to copy.

Confession time: I've never seen the Matt Helm films, nor read the books, so I'll have to take your word for it.

Never read the books myself either, however I did see a couple of the films imagine Bond meets James Coburn's Derek Flint played by Dean Martin.

After a bit more research on Helm, I've determined it would be detrimental to classic Bond. Helm is described as: "Matt Helm is a fictional character created by author Donald Hamilton. He is a U.S. government counter-agent—a man whose primary job is to kill or nullify enemy agents—not a spy or secret agent in the ordinary sense of the term as used in spy thrillers" So basically what Craig does.
