Q

Post by 007 Roger Moore »

I´m sad that John Cleese´s Q-career enden so quickly. I think he was great, actually.

He was good. Of course nobody can equal great Desmond, but Cleese wasn't much worse.

You know I have always wondered how John Cleese would have been as the new Q. to bad we will never know. If you think about it it could have worked a reboot=a new Q.

its too bad that Q has been binned, his apperence was always one of the highlights in a Bond film and i find it unpardonable that they tossed the character away. Just seen Danny boys delivery of Bond James Bond on a T.V advert. The casting director should be shot!! :x a famous line delivered in the most wooden way possible :x sorry guys in a bit of bad mood long day at work :D

Q will return along with other elements as people tire of the current direction.

Eon always have the classic Bond to fall back on.

Who do you think would make the next good Q?

Image
BOND sells, NOT CRAIG
The reboot is a risky area, did Eon need to do it? NO. Did this confuse alot of people? YES.
The Bond character will always be anchored in the values of the 60s

Will it matter if the magic is gone?
it's been scrapped. How hard will it be to get that magic going again? It all sort fell in place in the 60's and continued to work through 2002.

I can't think of one actor who could play Q young or pld :?

The only logical choice in my opinion is John Cleese. He might have been from the Brosnan era but so was Judi Dench. He could have played a new Q since it was a reboot, giving Q a new start. Also I think Cleese is still under contract.

under contract???

I agree Cleese would be the logical choice to go back to. Maybe capturing the magic again.

It would be able to bring the magic back IF Craig would be able to do the Q scene with JC wonderfully, meaning the scene required Bond to do something funny to Q, which IMO Craig lacks.

Yeah John Cleese's contract hasn't run out. He still had a contract with EON even though he wasn't in the movie. Basically he gets paid to do nothing.

Ok. Is it like picture deal where he's it for 3 pictures or is it for a numbers of years?

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

You are absolutely right. Cleese was great successor of unforgettable Desmond Llewelyn. And the way he was introduced to the series... That was the proper way to make changes in something as classic as Bond franchise - evolution, not this ridiculous reboot.
- "Do I look like I give a d**n?"
- You don't. And that's the main problem.

I agree I didn't like the idea of a reboot either. I always think that now they can either remake old bond movies since they technically happened and can use old stories.
