USA Mid-term election

Post by bjmdds »

Republicans are gaining on their Democratic counterparts in the generic House ballot, a new poll published Wednesday found. Democrats maintain a lead over the GOP on the generic ballot, with 47 percent of registered voters saying they’d support Democratic candidates over Republicans if the election were held today. 45% of voters would support GOP candidates, according to a Monmouth University Poll. That latest figures for the generic ballot are a marked shift from December, when 51 percent of voters said they would back Democrats, compared to 36 percent who would cast ballots for Republican congressional candidates. :hi:

USA Mid-term election

Post by Omega »

I don’t know if generic ballots mean anything.
But I also doubt if they were really ever behind the democrats among likely voters.
The day after trump was elected the media thought 2018 was going to be a blow out for republicans because the democrats have no local game, they suddenly realized except for a few bubbles on the east and west coast they lost everything in between, I don’t think anything has changed since the, and the democrats are still relitigating a election they lost and build up old candidates who are no longer relevant instead f moving on, if they listen to Donna Brazile and clean house they might actually be trouble the republicans

Republicans have at last seized the advantage on a generic congressional ballot following a three-month period that saw Democrats with leads between 2 and 10 points, a new Politico/Morning Consult poll found. Among registered voters, 39 percent said they would vote for a generic Republican candidate for Congress, while 38 percent said they would vote for a Democrat and 23 percent said they are undecided.

That’s the tax cut working.
But the republicans need good candidates if they go with more Roy Moore clones it won’t matter if more people on a generic ballot prefer them.

On the other hand that democrat in Alabama has so far voted with trump.

According to new Morning Consult polls, Democrats are in serious trouble in Senate races across the country. Republicans have serious leads in West Virginia, where incumbent Democrat Joe Manchin trails by 14 points; North Dakota, where incumbent Democrat Heidi Heitkamp trails by 8; Indiana, where incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly trails by 5; Missouri, where incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill trails by 5; Montana, where incumbent Democrat Jon Tester trails by 5; Florida, where incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson is locked in a near-deadlock with Rick Scott; and Pennsylvania and Ohio, where incumbent Democrats Bill Casey and Sherrod Brown are leading by less than two points each, plus Virginia, where Tim Kaine leads by just 3 on the generic ballot. In the best-case scenario for Republicans, then, they could win up to nine additional Senate seats :!: :!: :!: :!:

Reuters poll shows Republicans leading generic ballot for first time :!: Republicans hold a slim lead over Democrats in a generic ballot among registered voters, a new Reuters poll found, marking the first time the survey showed the GOP ahead in this election cycle. The poll showed 38.1 percent of registered voters said they would vote for a Republican candidate if midterm elections were held today, compared to just under 37 percent who said they’d vote for a Democrat.

The idea was once relegated to the far-left. But the liberal push to abolish the federal agency that enforces federal immigration laws is going mainstream in the Democratic Party, with New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Mayor Bill de Blasio adding their support to the cause in the last 24 hours :!: This left-wing liberal mentality will clinch Republican control of Congress for years now :!: The problem remains the few Republican losers but there are 3 in the Senate that will be replaced shortly via retirement or health issues, which should help to restore unity in the party with Trump at the helm being supported, not thwarted, by his own.

I don't think they have anything to lose by this, tbh. The anti-immigrant vote is going to Trump regardless.

I’m not sure any poll is worth a d**n, they lost a incumbent to a girl 30 points behind him. I wouldn’t trust any poll

On Sunday's AM Joy, MSNBC contributor and Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin declared that Sarah Huckabee Sanders deserves a "life sentence" of being harassed publicly as she asserted that the White House press secretary "has no right to live a life of no fuss, no muss" because of her negative interactions with the press :!: -----let these unhinged liberal socialistic seditionists continue to dig their own political graves with these thoughts :!: By the way, AM Joy Reid disparaged the LGBTQs on her social media pages a while back, but for some reason, since she works for MSNBC, that does not count against her :!:---------------The posts, for example, suggested — without much, if any, evidence — that Tom Cruise, Karl Rove, and Chief Justice John Robert’s son are gay. Other posts made derogatory remarks about gay people, claiming that “most straight people cringe at the sight of two men kissing” and that “adult gay men tend to be attracted to very young, post-pubescent types.” One post acknowledged, “Does that make me homophobic? Probably.”-------------this Joy Reid loser can still call Republicans homophobic with a straight face?

which part of it? It’s pretty long.

I would dispute parts of it from what little I read. Even in the north east like it is in the west the population centers of major cities tend not to represent the rest of the state. California is not 100% far left it’s much more broken up but the major cities control the policies for the state.

The state and federal governments have become a lot mot intrusive in the last 20 years, the leaders representing a minority of the population and the interests of their corporate donor

It’s not obama or trump who divided the nation it’s the interests of the people powerful enough to get the parties attention.

It's scary to think that these millennials actually are allowed to vote :!: These liberal bastions of stupidity represent the very NY City demographic stated in the Gallup Poll, which is a totally biased anti-Trump organization and cannot be respected. I emailed Gallup and Rasmussen stating their polling of national results is now meaningless and the only polling that counts in this era is that of the electoral college results. Poll the 30 states Trump won and see if he is doing well and that is your true result which represents 60% of the states in this country. It is now irrelevant to even ask the 20 states he lost their opinions, because they are useless now.

What does the electoral college have to do with a midterm election?

The way they poll which party is likely to do well is based on national surveys when everything is at the individual state level now.

I'm fully aware of the limitations of national polls, but midterms take place all over the country. Polling only 60% of states would only help predict the make-up of 60% of congress. Even in a presidential election, I don't know what it would tell us. It might detect swings away from Trump in states that previously voted for him, while missing corresponding swings towards Trump in states that voted for Hillary.

The California Democratic Party issued a stunning rebuke of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Saturday by decisively handing its official endorsement to state Sen. Kevin de Leon, her longshot Democratic challenger.

The move was the latest sign that establishment Democrats are facing something of a national insurgence, coming on the heels of last month's shock win by 28-year-old Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over high-ranking Rep. Joe Crowley in a closely watched New York primary.

In backing de Leon, a majority of the party's 360-member executive board ignored Feinstein's calls to stay neutral in the race. Her allies had warned an endorsement would only further divide Democrats.

The final vote margin was lopsided: A total of 217 delegates voted for de Leon, of Los Angeles, or nearly 65 percent of the delegates. Meanwhile, only 22, or 7 percent, cast ballots for Feinstein and 94, or nearly 30 percent, voted for no endorsement.

National Pride Dropping Most Among Democrats, Liberals via Gallup:

Currently, 32% of Democrats -- down from 43% in 2017 and 56% in 2013 -- are extremely proud. :cuss: The decline preceded the election of Donald Trump but has accelerated in the past year.

Less than half of independents, 42%, are also extremely proud. That is down slightly from 48% a year ago, and 50% in 2013.
:cuss:
As has typically been the case, Republicans are more inclined to say they are extremely proud to be Americans than are Democrats and independents. 74% of Republicans are extremely proud, which is numerically the highest over the last five years. Liberalism must be destroyed from our existence :!:

The co-chair of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Keith Ellison, was accused of emotional and physical abuse by an ex-girlfriend who said: "You know you did that to me."

Ellison responded to the allegations Sunday, issuing a brief statement that said, "I never behaved in this way."

The allegations surfaced Saturday night from Karen Monahan after her son alleged in a Facebook post that he had seen text messages from Ellison threatening her and video of the congressman screaming obscenities at her as he dragged her off a bed by her feet, The Associated Press reported.
