Dp2did underperform considering it dropped 12 million from the hugest projections.
However I know several acquaintances who also went to the movie this weekend.

At $110 million budget it breaking even today or tomorrow.

Disney lowered its opening weekend projections for solo to $105 3 day and $115 4 day, opening slow in world wide markets like China where it’ll earn $10 million opening weekend ( if the Chinese are honest about the bo)
Movie is estimated to cost $250 million before p&a .

I do think some of this is fallout from TLJ, it kill a lot of fans hunger for more star wars anything and we don’t trust Disney to get solo right, but it might actually be a good movie worthy of star wars legacy. The pitfalls are as we talked about earlier where the more classic of the new series does poorly giving Disney the wrong message

The reviews for Solo have been pretty lacklustre. Personally, I wasn't keen from the outset, I don't really want to see the Millennium Falcon do the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs, or Han's first meeting with Chewbacca. I think some things are better left to the imagination, and the early reviews haven't really persuaded me to change my mind. A professional comic artist I know said that a friend of his who actually writes Star Wars comics could only manage a "not bad", which doesn't exactly bode well.

I agree about those specific background stories being better left to the imagination. A good friend of ours saw it and she was disappointed, but said the best part was han and Chewie which I thought the new actor was questionable.
She mentioned a lot of spoilers I’m not going to mention here. Over all I think it’s misfire as seen by the bo plummeting despite Disney controlling the press perfectly. Honestly I think the anti Craig movement was an idea ahead of its time, 2016-2018 fan reaction to big films is changing studios minds.

Solo did not catch fire at the box office and Dead-FOOL was down 66% as well.

Deadpool opened bigger than a Star Wars spin off, of course it’s second weekend is going to be lower. It’s already at $487 million and it’s been making the studio money since Tuesday or Wednesday last week.

Solo was hurt by the last two movies, it’s actually not a bad movie. I object to a few things but overall it felt more like a SW movie than not. Unfortunately solo cost in the neighborhood of $250 to 300 million before P&R. Sad because solo could be it’s own trilogy or more of young han adventures.

Shame of it is solo is not a bad SW movie but then again it’s not really moving either, by the end you do end up liking the new han and chewie,

I think it had too much stacked against it. Numerous explanations have been offered for its failure, personally I don't believe it was down to any one single factor, more like "all of the above". I doubt we'll be seeing those Boba Fett and Obi-Wan prequels now.
