No doubt cinema managers will breathe a sigh of relief, as they can now free up screens for other things.

At midday Saturday, Box Office Mojo listed SPECTRE box office of $3,000 for Friday, March 18. Today, it lists an estimate of $12,000 for March 18, $17,000 for March 19 and $6,000 today.

Utter fraud going on here Solo. I saw the same thing. With ONLY 9 theaters they got more revenue than 63 did 2 weeks ago? :!:  Give me a break. They went from $3000 Friday to a $12,000 correction? Baloney. I bet the theaters were empty and EON bought the measly amounts themselves to save face. Nobody fools this website :!: It's TURNER TIME now :!: :yay:

Updated figure after the actual weekend numbers: $200,011,902.

Also, Deadline: Hollywood came out with an estimate the movie (including estimated home video, VOD, etc) will generate a profit of $98 million for MGM and Sony to split 75-25. Danjaq LLC (Eon's parent company) gets $50 million (paid off the top) and the Ian Fleming estate $10 million (ditto).

that is actually a cutting review of the finances involved. And they are right who ever partners with mgm/eon will work very hard for not a lot of money.

The only point of contention I have is they believe the $245 million budget bs, also Craig's salary was supposed to be much more. maybe not crossing $1 billion cut into that? That was the trigger for all the Star Wars profit sharing .

Good to know eon fee for producing went up from $30 million to $50.

According to the WSJ last year, Danjaq/Eon got $109 million for Skyfall. Here's the URL but it's behind a paywall. However, if you cut and paste the URL in Google, you should be able to view the story.

So the comparisons to Skyfall as outlined in the WSJ story:

MGM: $175M to $73.5M (75% of $98M)

Sony: $57M to $24.5M (25% of $98M)

It was the WSJ story, which said Sony would make $38 million *with* Skyfall-sized box office.

I think it's almost certain Sony won't re-up to be the Bond distributor. Pascal cut a terrible deal with MGM. About the only way I can see Sony holding on is if the other studios tell MGM to pound sand on a 75-25 split.

Whatever the figures, Bond is high on the revenue but low on profits for a studio partnering with MGM.

True, thing going for WB is the history they have with mgm. They already worked these details out before so imo if WB really wants to distribute bond they can make a deal work.

I never considered how much work and money was invested to make so little. It gets headlines as breaking bo records but that doesn't translate to the real world bank accounts.

Weird thing is this is not new territory for bond, they break even then go on to make money only in every so many films. Goldeneye was probably the last really good profitable movie for everybody involved.

According to the bo numbers I've seen tnd & Twine left the bo in the red, maybe dad too. But dad rode the wave of dvd sales to be the most profitable to mgm in their history with bond. Which is like from the 70s.

It seems like every film since chubby died the prices to make them go through the roof while attendance stays pretty steady considering everything.

According to the numbers.com spectre sold 825,333 blu-Ray's first week, making $16,258,060 about $19.70 a disc.

Not sure what DVD number were but we can do the math if we really want to know , some of the charts have a total percentage in their sales list.

But still sell under 1 million is pathetic . I'm not sure this regression is limited to just bond.

The biggest draw or the re-re-re-release of dvd bluray before spectre came out were the digital codes.

My local BestBuy has already dropped the DVD price to $15 and the Blu-Ray t0 $19. Not really a sign of confidence! In comparison, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, has been the same price (About $25) since it was released on DVD/Blu-Ray.

Craig’s deal is not very rich – $7M upfront plus about $4M on the back end.

Although I wouldn't turn down $11 million just to glower at a camera.

We thought he got a LOT more from Broccoli than that for a 4th film. Did Brosnan get more out of EON? It seems they know they operate on a shoe string profit margin so even though they gross a lot, they have a huge overhead, but I still don't see where the $245 million was spent on this film.
